FL Studio problem...

So I was creating this little trance riff buildup and I went ahead and started messing with the cutoff on both envs of Vanguard. I have 2 Vanguards set up btw. So I decided to record the cutoff automation using the Record in the mixer and then preceding to press the record button up top near the play and stop and stuff. All goes well until I decide I don't like it too well and want to create another. So I delete the old versions and attempt to create a new one. My problem lies in that while trying to create the new one, my old automation is still going when I play. I put the cutoff back to where I want it(0 for env 1 and 20 for env 2 on both Vanguards) and then I see the cutoff switches move and everything. I don't know exactly how to fix this but if someone else knows please help. Here's a sample of what it sounds like with the automation I don't want:

It records the automation based on whatever channel is selected at the time. I usually have to remind myself to change the channel to "main automation" before hitting record. Otherwise the automation data gets written in whatever channel was selected.
Go to the knob being modified and select "edit events". If the data is not there, select another channel in the sequencer, and do the same. Keep doing this until you see stuff show up on the graph. Then get rid of it. |

Glad I could help! :) Did it fix your problem?
I'll give the clip a listen later on (at work right now) |

Hey. This is a simple problem to correct for. All you need to do is click on one of the copies of Vanguard, move the knob you have recorded automation for (the cutoff frequency in this case), and then in the upper left corner of the wrapper, theres a box, that looks like a plug. Click on it and go down to 'Last Tweaked Parameter'. Click on 'Edit Events' and then in the upper left corner of the event window, click on the little graph button. Go down to 'Edit' then to 'Select All' then press the delete key. It sounds a little crazy but it only takes seconds.
Cheers,

| haha yup both worked. I actually just went to the browser and deleted all the automations in there for the Vanguards. Thanks a lot guys. I'm having a little writers block right now and I don't know where I want to go with this track =/ I have some good melodies but I don't know how I'm gonna structure the whole song yet :( I tend to this a lot then don't even make the track. |

Usually when I get to that point I stop working on it for a while but keep it around. Maybe start other tracks. Come back to it in a few days...week...month... whatever it takes. Not seeing/hearing it for a good period of time can be very refreshing. Sometimes I'll be stuck on a song for a good few days and not make any progress, but then I leave it alone for a few days, come back to it, and I finish it within minutes... |
