What mixer will replace Pioneers DJM 600 ? (pg. 2)

Answering the question posed by your thread title:
In clubs, the 600 has already been replaced by: Xone:92, Xone:62, Xone:464, Xone:V6, Pioneer DJM-1000, Rane MP/XP 2016, and in some places, the Ecler NUO5.
You would do well to check out any of the above mixers.
Pioneer is very tight-lipped about upcoming products, but they have repeatedly stated that there will be no 4-channel 909. I have heard that there is an upcoming 600 replacement, but that it's more like a scaled-down DJM-1000. They push their line of effectors pretty hard, so I wouldn't expect any built-in effects. I think built-in digital effects in high-end mixers are (rightfully) going the way of the buffalo. But, we'll see, I guess. |

Hm, lots of you keep on repeating how the ecler nuo 5 has better sound quality. I have never seen any actual comparison between them. If it was done and I missed it, be kind and post it here
I did hear both playing on a loud system and to me they were exactlty the same (djm 600 vs nuo5) |

the main issue with sound quality between the Pioneer and the NUO5 is that the Pio clips very easily, which will bring in distortion. Alot of DJ's run their gains up into the reds (which is bad!) so you'll tend to hear this on the Pioneer.
Also, no scientific test has been done between the two, and that said, sound quality is "subjective", but I'm sure if you took both mixers and played the same tunes on some good speakers and took a good listen, you'd hear the difference.
Same applies to a large club setting...but usually that depends on their sound system. If its not a good system, or if it has a lot of processing, then I guess you'd be hard pressed to hear the difference really. |

ive played on both the Nuo5 and the DJM600 in clubs and to be honest i think they felt the same. i prefer the DJM600 due to the assignable crossfader and the fact that it has vu meters per channel (something i think is pretty important for matching levels as well as helping to illuminate the other buttons and knobs on the mixer)
when using the nuo5 i needed to keep my mobile fone out and use its light to see where everything was. very annoying |

| having owned a djm-500 and now a nuo4 i can tell you that the pioneer wasn't even in the same ballpark as the nuo 4 with respect to sound quality. Everything about the nuo4 is better, smoothness of faders, clarity of sound, loudness before distortion, fader adjustability etc. The only thing I'd change about the nuo4 is it's effects interface. I really liked the way the efx-500 was used with my djm-500. The nuo4 doesn't have it quite right. If aren't using an efx unit then there would be absolutely no reason to buy a pioneer. |

| as someone mentioned above, the djm800 isn't too far away from release. a scaled down version of the 1000, should address the major issue most people have with the 600, the sound quality |

Do you know that for a fact? How did you get that information? |
