Winston Churchill is a great example of my favorite form of wit, i think it's absolutely genius and i don't even know what u call it.. it's not really humble, but resembles the form of humility...it's very subtle and yet the impact is huge...
here's some great ones:
Lady Astor: Sir, if you were my husband, I would poison your drink.
Winston Churchill: Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it.
"I wish Stanley Baldwin no ill, but it would have been much better if he had never lived". on Stanley Baldwin
"Eating words has never given me indigestion."
(true!)
"Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put."
:haha: |

Is it common knowlege? Since when? Where is your scientific facts to back up this statement? You can not just say something like that & not back it up with proof. I demand proof you fool! Proof Proof Proof. Give it to me! Hard! You hairy monkey. |

I'd put that in the dead-pan catagory.... very dry and matter of fact. It's all about delivery. |

:o That is no proof!
Sarcasm is a complex form of humour that works in different ways depending on the situation. It is true that sacastic remarks can cause discomfort to people or make people sad, though this does not make it the "lowest form of wit". Sacasm can be extremely clever. The main problem with sarcasm is that there is too much room for misinterpretation. |

I concur.
Poor sarcasm is a very poor form of wit.
Good sarcasm is the best.

In case you didnt notice i did not say that sarcasm was the lowest form of wit in gramatically correct terms or by dictionary definition, i said it was the lowest form of wit by common knowledge, your point isnt valid. |
