I played Civ 2 till last week and finally decided to try iv. I tried to play 3 but didn't quite get over the learning curve. I was more than happy to stay with 2.

lol. every time I see a picture of a tank, i hear "Fire!"

Play for Currency and banking, then build markets and banks. Always build a forbidden palace and try to be the owner of Versailles, which is like a second forbidden palace. Move your Palace around to regions which need developed.

When you have 1 turn left until you discover a new tech, decrease science spending down to 10%. Youll still (often) get the tech in one turn, but youll greatly increase your gold for one turn.

Use civics which pay for your military units, and build the courthouse in your cities, which greatly decreases maintainence costs.

I love the new version, and it still cracks me up that Al Gore is the icon for the internet :p
