hey guys.
i wanna apply sidechaining to my latest piece. how do i make the compression that would be applied to the kick get to be affecting another track- eg. the bass...?
im using the standard vst compression/limiter/etc that comes with cubase sl 2.0.
thanks in advance

Might wanna try the search function before you post next time, this has been asked probably a 1000 times
But anyways, the Sidechainer vst effect, it's free, but it only works in mono.. (left input is main signal and right signal is kick/whatever ... unless it's the other way around, can't remember :p )
You create a group track, send signal from your kick to the group track (where the sidechainer is) hard panned left, route the bass to the group track, hard panned right( I think). this way the signal from the kick is used to apply the correct compression to the bass
There is a 4 track plugin out now, I think, but I don't know how it works or what it's called...
you can search for "sidechaining" for more info |

a) What makes you think I want releases?
b) What makes you think I don't have any?
Pretty presumptuous there.
Seriously dude, I'm one of the more helpful people on this forum. If I give a useless answer, it's probably to a useless question. USE THE SEARCH, because this topic has been discussed 50 times in the past few months, and I'm not even exaggerating. |
