Child memories

i was at a park today just watching the sky when i heard a *thud* and suddenly all this crying. on my left was the mother. on my right was her child. seemed her child had fallen down while doing whatever on those baseball benches. so the kid is on the ground crying and i dont really care, but i listen.

child: oh mom its broken
mom: no its not! c'mon! lets go!
child: mom, it's broken. it split open
mom: no it didn't. c'mon. lets go!
child: mom, there is so much blood!
mom: i can see from here. there is no blood and its not broken. c'mon. let's go.
child: ok i'm fine

anyways, so i start thinking about the fact that my life be over soon, especially after the past few nights. i was thinking, damn, i might never get to see Hostel, especially since it's 2 months from now. so i start thinking about good memories.

i remember around 1995-6 when my dad had suddenly gotten into getting every Beateles album on CD. The whole family was in the living room and my dad had just gotten Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. So he hooks it up to his stereo and puts on his $5 headphones. Then he starts trying to talk to us.

HEY ERICK. U WANT TO GO TO WALMART TOMORROW.
i guess he thought that the fact that the music was loud in his ears meant that the music was loud for everyone, like at a concert. me and my mom were giggling like crazy as he said normal things at a loud volume.

WHATS YOURS

we were so happy to have our daddy at home !:p

don't really have a whole lot of good childhood memories...a couple that stick out though are when my mom and i lived in the ghetto when i was like 9 and we used to sneak out to the complex pool (closed after dark) to go for a swim to cool off on the hot summer nights because she couldn't afford to keep the AC running all the time. so that was our way of cooling off for a bit before bed. i was always scared to jump the fence and go in there because all these thugs would hang around the complex sometimes...but they never ed with us. it was fun though.

and when i was in 5th grade i wanted to be cool and be a cheerleader but i had never done it before. my mom told me about the city league try outs so i just went to the 3 day clinic where they teach you a dance, 2 cheers and a chant and you have to get it down by the 4th day (try outs) and there were like 300 + girls there...it was very intimidating, but i just went in there and gave it my best shot. then we had to go home and wait for a phone call to see if we made it. that was like the most nerve-wracking couple of hours for me. i was convinced i didn't make it.

but then i got the call and i did:D

Two of my earliest memories are both of breaking my arm...

First (i was about 3) was of me standing at the top of my stairs at home moments before falling down and breaking my arm.

Secondly was breaking my arm on a rollarcoster in Great Yarmouth when i was about 5.

And as a side note, do you guys remember things in the first or third person? 90% of my memories are in the third person, very strange

This is a splendid idea.

Well I remember back when I was 7 or 8 years old. I loved to climb trees and cliffs and all that, yeah you know.
And this one time, I start climbing in a HUGE, HUGE, HUUUUUUUGE tree, like... man the height of it was unreal tournament! I don't have a clue of HOW high it was though, but you'll get an idea when I'm done, I'm telling you.

So I climbed to top (almost) unfortunately I step on a frail branch, and start falling down, recieving multiple (prior bases for my climbing) old branches up my scrotum. Plus I grazed both of my legs REALLY bad on the trunk, all the way down.

When I landed I had one wound on my right leg reaching from my hip down to my foot, about 2-3 cm deep, and pretty much 2 cm broad, just pissing out blood. Almost an identical wound on my left leg as well, ust a little shorter.

I starting limping through the forest, feeling dizzy and completely unfocused, so I fall down a very small cliff, landing in a thicket stinging nettles, so my whole body (especially my legs) hurt even more, although I usually don't feel the pain, or whatever you want to call it, from nettles. I scream, get up, keep on hobbling, from the glade into the vast forest again, and eventually I get out... CIVILISATION!!! And I kept on rollin'... I guess I looked like a zombie by now. But the bad luck just wouldn't stop. I felt hungry and stuff, and I had a fairly long way to walk. And I have bees attacking me for no reason. This is where I fell down in a sandbox, crying for help. FINALLY some luck I thought when a friend showed up and called my parents from home. The thing is... we were gonna have some.. to me-disgusting fish for dinner, so I went crazy and started crying even more when I got home.

That's it I guess. I'll post more memories later.

I USED TO LOVE SUPERTED WHEN I WAS YOUNGER! I HAD A LOAD OF VIDEOS AND POSTERS. ONE TIME I EVEN MADE A STUFFED PAPER SUPERTED DOLL, IT WAS WELL GOOD!

WHY ARE WE SHOUTING ABOUT SUPERTED?!?!!

My favorite childhood memory was sledding in my backyard with my sister & cousin, over Christmas break. We'd stay outside for 2 - 3 hours at a time until we were completely chilled, and then go inside and Mom would make us hot cocoa and cinnamon & sugar toast. We'd stick our shoes & gloves on the heat register and play Legos for a couple hours and then bundle ourselves up and go back out again.

Soooooooo much fun.

i'm trying to think of what my happiest childhood memory is :conf:

can't really pic a happiest memory...

i remember one when i was in like 1st grade or something and we had a class raffle for this giant michaelango ninja turtle...the thing was huge, bigger than me...and i won it! it was awesome!

of course i also remember when i went to show the older kids up the street my prize and they ripped it and so i got really pissed and chased them with a bat...

LOL!

I can relate to that scenario - down to the toast!

Snow Forts were teh !

Hours outside - wasn't long enough.

Christmas is it for me!

Burl and Ives - what?

Exactly - but everything is perfect (or pretty near) - rituals that we enjoy sharing together.

Bows on the dogs, cats (they dont make them for fish!) but yeah...

FUN TIMES!

:D

for "aural" stimulation of memories - the is an awesome soundtrack IMO - for me and many others - the sounds are intense and delicate

I always associate music and memory together......makes it so easy to benchmark specific moments.

awesome!
