My misfortune can be your great benefit!

Theory to the damage? Well as we all know, gym's in manhattan are usually over priced, filled with good looking people all trying to hit on each other and we hardly find time to work out for ourselves. So like many manhattanites who are on a strict budget, I joined Synergy ($400/yr membership) DAMN CHEAP! And guess what happens? I go to workout friday everything is fine, I pass by Saturday morning - big sign across the window "THIS LOCATION HAS CLOSED PLEASE VISIT 96th Street" Sorry, I'm not travelling uptown to go to a gym.

All saturday I've been distraught over the fact that I've settled into a routine and now my gym has closed...!

Woke up this morning and decided I'm going to inquire rates at NYSC. Now in my area there are a few NYSC, some bigger than others, some more crowded then others. Well I went to the smaller one which happens to be closer to me than where the other larger, more trendy one.

I walk in and I tell the guy I'm from Synergy and I wanted to get some rates. He goes yo I just got this paper this morning, here are the rates.

Synergy Members who sign up for NYSC pay
$39.99 initial fee
$39.99 processing fee
$39.99 monthly fee

AND you get to go to any NYSC in the city

WOW! Normally NYSC is about 80-90/month, that's literally half price.
I was sold right away!

So if any of you Manhattanites who are signed up at another gym but can't afford the super-gym cost like Equinox or NYSC but would like to since it's closer to you, it's bigger than your current gym, I suggest you come down to my NYSC and sign up and pay such a great cheap rate!

All you have to do is say you were from Synergy and it closed down and you are looking for a new gym.

If they say there is no such thing, ask for Eldridge Goodman and say you got referred to by an asian guy named Brian. (No i don't get referral months for this - he offered me a bag with headphones haha)

After you sign up, you can return back to your area and use the NYSC near you w/o paying that dumb expensive monthly fee.

That's the line...and it's been dropped

Location:
NYSC - Broadway between 76th and 77th Street
2162 Broadway
212-496-2444
Next to Cosi on the East Side of Broadway

PS-You can call and also speak to Eldridge, he'll process you over the phone as well - just say you are from Synergy and say you live somewhere close to 74th and Broadway if they inquire.

If I lived in the city I problay would but then again its the annoying Christmas Season already and man do I have no time for anything. Also we have Gold Gyms located everywhere Falls Church, Arlington VA. Plus theR facilities are clean, really good equipment and its cheap.

Wow. That's not that bad. And yeah, I pay almost $90 a month for my NYSC membership, and that's WITH corporate discount! And usually the fee to sign up is a good 100 bucks or so as well. is rediculous... but their facilities are great and I don't know about other boros but they're all over Manhattan so that's good. Hopefully ppl take advantage of that info so they don't have to pay out the ass :whip:
