I have some samples that are listed as winamp files even though they play fine with windows media player.
What I'm not sure about is weather these files can be converted to / or are already wav files that I can import in the sampler in fl studio?
Bit confused please help
Thanks |

| you can set windows to display the file extensions, so you don't have to guess what kind of file it is. Both winamp and WMP play wav files as well as mp3's I think. |

like the above poster stated, turn on view file extensions in windows and u will see the type of file they are like .mp3 or .wav
to do this
open the dir which contains the tracks
then click
tools and folder options
then
click the view tab
in the list of options click
hide file extensions for known file types, this will remove the dot from the circle, click apply and then ok
refresh the dir and you will see the file types |

To apply this to all folders do the same:
Tools > Folder options > View (tab) >
scroll down and uncheck "remember each folder's view settings"
and "hide file extensions for known file types"
>Apply
then click the 'apply to all folders' button on top
>OK
Now all folders will show the file extensions of their files, also the ones you'll create later. |

That's unneccesary. You only need to uncheck it. |

| I can't stand it when I can't see file extensions. I like to know what I'm clicking on every time. |

And one last thing i should have put in my other post
they may look like winamp files because they have a winamp icon in front of the file names
this is just an association, it means audio files are asscoiated with winamp, you can change the asscoiation to windows media player for example but Winamp is more than good enough for the job of playing audio files :) |
