This is all I have got done to it, any psy heads give me any tips, whats good and bad about it?

Hey Ricky,
Before I begin, I'm not too familiar with psy...but here goes.
Your fx and subtle perc sounds are awesome! I love the explosion when the beat kicks in. Tons of energy! That windup is really cool.
As you mentioned there's distortion on certain elements.
That bass is killer!
Do psy trance songs typically have strings & pads? that'd be a nice addition to this song.
I hope you finish this and look forward to hearing the end result!

It is on the soft side of psytrance I reckon but the sample is quite nice if it had a better kick ;)
The bass is wicked and those arps are superb! :) Bouncy sample this mate. It sounds that the best part is coming but you end the sample to quickly with that synth coming in :)
Me likes it but I can tell it is just a very rough scetch |

Sooper - I'm not sure what psytrance is like really lol - I suppose its a lot about experimenting, thanks for the tips - strings might be what it needs.
Menno - Thanks a lot for the tips, yeah its very early work in progress, might get round to finishing it. I'm quite busy elsewhere you see ;)

Pretty cool sample. Doesnt really sound too psytrance, but I can see the direction your going with it. Sounds similar to Sub6 or Wizzy noise.. which isnt really psy, but still awesome sounding electronica.
I like the percussive fx, they are definately working for you.
If you want to give it more of a psy feel, lead it with the bassline and remove those low end synths that seem to be cluttering up the lower frequences. The bassline is kinda hard to pick out too, sounds very tech at the moment.
Keep the highhats clearer too. They sound too reverbed at the moment. Sharp highats and punchy bass will lock onto the beat more and give it that psy drive.
Melody is cool though and nice and bouncy. You could try a less full sounding patch though or maybe just bandpass it to a narrower frequency. That will give you the space to add lots of fx and tweaks later on when the time comes. Generally a bit more filter automation too wouldnt hurt either.
Got a good sound so far though, definately a nice blend of trance and psy. Looking forward to an update =) |

great initial fx & high rhythm.
awesome 'take-off' noise @ 0.25, though the level is to high.
Love the thick bass. Not really a psy style bass, though I love the selection non-the-less. It is hard to gauge the track with such a short sample. I enjoyed what I heard. |

hey i think it's a pretty good start, i like those bubbly FX, they're quite psy sounding however i agree with the person who said the bassline needs to be more 'pronounced', one of the things i love most about a good psy tune is the bassline and how punchy and clear they are.
this sounds quite nice though, hope u keep workin on it man, its got some serious energy! |

ricky, i have to say man.. this is some of the best work ive heard from you.. those really simple percussion fx really get the track moving, and as sooper said the explosion creates heaps of tension.. dont be afraid to beef up the drum a touch, even though its psy, couldnt hurt :)

This is so cool. Please please let us know whe its done. I love the sounds, its unquie, and it most certaily is psy trance in my book. You did a great job.
Usally psy has a 16th note bassline, but yours is cool also, it really brings a sorta thump-smack edge to it. Keep the bass how it is very good thing. If you dont finish this track I will! |

Yeah im posting again, thats how much I like this. love the offbeat warp bassline with the psy trance chirp kick.
Oh and strings, i dont think it be that cool, unless you chop up the strings so they sound weird. |
