I heard somewhere that if you make the song sound good on cheap computer speakers then it will sound good anywhere else. Is this a big myth? What do you guys think? |

i think it's not good idea, cause you will spent hours on mixing and have a feeling everything is on it's own place but when you have a listen on better quality system:whip:
maybe you can do something if you'r experiences producer and addopt your ears to computer speakers by listening other tracks but it's really hard work and loosing of time IMO |

I created a song using cheap CD player headphones, b4 i got my good ones, the only place it doesn't sound good is in a car with a sub thats being played too loud. The bass of the song would drain out everything, otherwise it plays great anywhere, but that was my luck, and the song did take me near a month to complete. |

wow, that is so horribley backwards...if u make a song sound good on 'monitors' it will sound good anywhere else (although most producers use numerous sources for testing as no monitors, at least not in the affordable range are 'completely' flat). definately do a secondary test on pc speakers to see if it'll sound good to the average listener, but your song will sound like absolute on anyone elses system other then yours if you try to produce on pc speakers (becasue the colourization of the sound in pc speakers is insane dramatic...i've used high end altec lansing and logic speakers and i would never dream of mixing on them, the bass is usually turned sky hi, typical smiley face eq) |

Perhaps you're thinking of the Yamaha NS-10 studio monitors. They have an awkward frequency response, and many (including myself) will tell you that if something sounds good on those, they'll sound good almost everywhere else. Producing with cheap PC speakers, however, is just about the worst thing you can do.
Edit: READ THE FAQ for basic equipment questions, PLEASE. |

cool, i will have to check out those yamahas. I went over to FAQ but it only tells what to look for in monitors. I would like to get some suggestions from fellow tranceaddicts. Any other monitors I should consider? |

First of all, the NS10's haven't been in production for a long time, so the only way you'll get them is second-hand.
Second, that question gets asked ALL THE TIME, either use the search or read reviews! |

i searched for both "monitor" and "monitors" and get almost no search results. Couple hits with not much recommendations. Am I doing something wrong? |
