Hey TA'S ...
As many of you know I am in S.D. now, have been for a few years, but I am ready for a change ... plus it is getting expensive making trips up to LA every weekend ... and I have made some excellent friends that I miss seeing...
So I thought I would check if anyone could help me out with finding a job in the LA area ... I have a BA in communication, minor in english...
I won't bog this down with specifics, but if you think you could help at all, Maybe you know someone, contact me through myspace or email or reply to this ... I really appreciate it
*kisses* |

Sounds familiar....When I was still living in SD I would drive to LA pretty much every weekend (did this for over a year). I finally moved to LA last April, and now that I'm "settled" here I find myself driving to SD frequently :tongue2
Good luck finding a job! |

I'm a college drop out where the job I do in all the field I do typically requires a BA in Digital Film & Video production, BS in Animation (although I don't do this anymore), english/journalism degree (although my writing skills suffer these days, lol), an AA in Broadcasting, and by some employers, a BSEE degree for the studio engineering that is involved.
Fortunately, I learned alllll kinds of stuff in high school...then when I got my job back in 2000 it was simple little team of two people building something.
Since then, our team has expanded to 11 people, we have a TV studio built (placeholder studio now, hopefully the big one coming in 2006), do material for AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Target, Best Buy, and more. Have headed up our move into the HD era. I have the joy (not) of training everyone anything new. I make sure we are technilogically ahead of the game (need more money!!), and so much more...
I love my $45,000+ work computer. :p
Unlike working at a newspaper or a TV station or with a movie studio, no one here has one specific job. THere is no "camera man" or "writer" or "production assistant" or "dolby grip" or "sound guy" , etc etc etc...we do everything ourselves from start to finish and mainly as individual projects...thus, what we know and what we do is far more than that of a typical journalist/video production person.
Over the years, I have learned everything I know in the real world and not in a class room. When I started I knew a lot of the basics of video production but over the years have been forced to learn everything the hardware. Using the internet, magazines, and just buying stuff and figuring it out myself...my eduction is firsthand and not from a teacher. Wheee......
Someone offer me a job making like five times as much as I do now, lol... |
