internet relay services...wtf??

| Yooo..whats up guys..first time posting in the CoR for me. Anyways, I have a strange story to share with you. Maybe you have some input for me. Soooo, I'm riding the train home from work today and I get a call on my cell. So I look at the caller ID and it says "Unknown". Ok so I pick it up cause I'm a curious bastard and it's like some operator lady and she said something to the effect of "Someone is calling you from an Internet Relay Service have you ever received a call like this before?". Of course I was like "uhhh wtfno." So the op proceeds to tell me taht someone is typing to her and she is dictation what they are typing and that after my reply i have to say "go ahead". ok, yeah. First thing the person says to me is "Is this Nicholas?". And yeah, thats me so I was like thaaaaaas me. Then the person asked me for my full name. I told em it was "Nicholas". So the person proceeds to tell me that "Since your family evaded a court order on illegal downloaded files that there is a warrant out for my arrest.". Ok, so i've downloaded some stuff before, big deal. When I asked what company the person was calling me from, they said they were from my local town municipal court. Shouldn't a federal court be handling something like this? Then I asked what "files" this was in reference to and I either got disconnected they hung up. So I did some research and I came up with http://www.ip-relay.com. So what do you guys think? Was someone trying to prank me or was this the real deal? I don't understand why they are calling me. I didn't receive a court order, nor did anyone in my family. And it's not even my name on the internet account? wtf is going on?? :nervous: :eyespop: |

| If there was any legitimate warrant out for your arrest it would be sent via certified mail, and I'm sure you would receive a direct phone call from an actual representative of the judicial division that was responsible for your prosecution. |
