What's this all about? Might be a silly question but how do you get 2 perfectly beat matched tracks together with this thing and Ableton? Someone perhaps is using it, worth getting...? Thanks. |

The Evolution X-Session, a USB MIDI control surface specifically designed with the needs of computer-based DJs in mind, is now available.
X-Session features 16 knobs that users can assign to any MIDI parameter in MIDI-compatible music software and hardware, such as volume, panning, effects and synth parameters. The 10 assignable buttons are ideal for triggering loops and effects, or instantly muting and unmuting tracks. The 60mm cross-fader allows DJs to mix between two assignable audio sources, as well as perform scratches. X-Session comes bundled with Ableton Live XS and Arturia Storm XS for a complete, powerful digital DJ experience right out of the box.

Thats the description from the webpage.
Im not sure how much you know about this product or audio equipment atall but this controlls whatever you want it to. Although as far as ableton goes you will still need a mouse for some things.
You can set up the fader so that it controls abletons and you can set the knobs so they controll the eq's. I know that there are atleast 1 or 2 TAs who use one of these.
Iv never used one so i cannot comment on the build quality and durability but from the layout and controls i would sure go for it. |

| I got mine for about $80 on eBay, but I don't find myself using it that often because I have a UC-33e. The crossfader is kind of flimsy and is moved far too easily to be used effectively, and I never use it anyway. I use it for sending stuff to return tracks and other effects. It's not bad if you actually use a crossfader, but I don't really think it's worth buying new. |

I've never used one, but last time I saw Zabiela he was using one. It looked like he was using it to trigger effects and maybe using the crossfader as a wet/dry fader because he would put it all the way over to one side and you'd hear the effect and he'd move it over to the other side and the effect would go away.
You aren't supposed to beatmatch with the midi controller you need to go into Ableton and set the warp markers for all of your loops. |

I use one all the time to control Traktor 2.5 and find it works great. Mine is configured to control the EQs and levels, EQ kill switches, bandpass filters, and headphone previewing.
The cross-fader is very light-touch so you need to be careful with it, the lightness is good for fast cuts for house etc. If your style is to not use a cross-fader you can re-assign and use it for another purpose like master volume etc. |
