i am having problems with my sound coming out of my cd players.
for instance when a lp is playing and the channel is up and the gain is around the half way mark, when i mix a cd in on top of vinyl with the channel up i have to turn the gain all the way up on the cd player channel. is this normal ir do i have a problem. i have a pioneer djm-500 mixer and american aduio ***-500 cd player. |

i noticed that too.
if you find yourself running out of gain for the cd player, i suggest you crank the master out more, then you will have to crank the gains less.
what i do is play a jam, then push the channel fader all the way up.
then i start raising the master, and the gain on the channel until pfl meter, and master meter both peak at 0db.
so far, i have never had to max the gain on a channel to match my levels. sometimes i get close, maybe 75%-85%, but i always have some room left. |

assuming you guys are using the line in's on your mixers? tried using the phono in's instead? They are much louder since turntables need more amplification from what I understand.
Its exactly the same with my laptop. Ive gotta use nearly twice as much gain to equal the volume of a channel playing a vinyl.. Always suspected it was my laptop having a e output. Its actually quite annoying since some of my mp3's have been recorded at a slightly lower volume than the rest and i tend to run out of gain. |
