Hello!
First off.....Happy New Year!
Well, i just ordered this new mp3 player. its called the "slim-x". it can be found on www.iriveramerica.com . i couldnt find ANY reviews on it whatsoever, and im wondering if any of you TAs know anything about it, like the good and the bad. From what i know so far, its just a thin riovolt sp-250 with a souped up battery life.
thanks!
p.s. I specifically want input from BSE lol. |

Not TOO bad considering it's much thinner than the Volt and has a nice remote with it too. Once you get that thing post a review on it if you can. |

heheeh alrtie, ill review, when i recieve it. something tells me the supply chain is really ghetto, and i wont get it for a while.
well, its a great player...but the anti-skip mechanism still seems to be really bad...the slimx has the exact same mechanism as the Volt, which spins in the beginning and feeds the memory.
great player, but i hope u guys dont think that im starting one of those bragging threads over at anandtech hehe..

well, i got the player last night, and the little free backpack too hehe. ill try to make a really general review right now.
Pros-
-> good battery life
-> great suond quality
-> skip-protection
-> lots of little features (ie FM tuner)
-> external battery pack
Cons-
-> really easy to open the tray door (all u need is a little slide, but im really paranoid about these things hehe)
-> really difficult to learn how to use the remote (wayy too many features...but i got used to it in an hour, which is unacceptably long for me)
-> no belt clip
-> the seeker head (part that reads the CD) is quite loud
-> (worst thing) micro track jumping. well, i was listening to some digweed mix cd, and u can feel a slight jump into space manuvers, the second track (if you were to exale, you woont hear it). there is no track jumping on my old discman.
overall, ive got to give this player a 9/10. ties w/ pocket concert (imo) for best mp3 player on market. sorry im not going into depth, too much homework hehe.

(ps, if u need me to go in depth, feel free to PM me :)) |

| looks a lot better then my Genica one. That wasn't a good purchase at all. The 3 second pause between every track, plus the horrible skipping. I'm really not good with CD players in at all. The one I bought for my car plays every CD except the ones I burn and the PvD's politics of dancing, which really pisses me off, out of all the CD's to refuse to play. Good luck with that thing, I bet its a lot betterthen mine. |
