your point being?
this is why we have a system of 'rules' to define what groups of molecules form a person. |

exactly my point.. stating that remixing dates back to the early times would be a violation of that rule since hte term did not exist. I know you were trying to exaggerate but im just trying to be a stiff ass. As well i wonder what the first record to come out witha released remix was. Maybe that would be recognized as the first professional remix. as live remixing would just be called mixing wouldnt it? |

i was just showing why treeboo's definition 'doesn't work'... not suggesting that as a definition, pay attention.
this was my answer to the question:

i'd place the first remixes in jamaica, a generation before grandmaster flash, though they called em dubplates. |
and i still stand by it. |

I may largely be taking out of my arse here, but since his is considered the first proponet of sampling which is essentially remixing, I would have cited him as the first sampler/remixer. Though like Psy-T says, sampling may well go back before him, who knows that the hell they were doing in Jamaica back then... |

Is the remix you’re thinking of U2’s Even Better Than The Real Thing? That was 1992, made Oakenfold massive and got U2 bopping about on stage, not to mention getting a DJ seriously touring…
1992 sounds incredibly late for a ‘first’ remix … |
