| i cant believe people r complaining about an entry fee.....its a contest and just like most contests you have to pay. thats why there is prizes, its not just like spinning on any ordinary night.....i am totally up for it! |

hell...ive paid to play in a dj competition...
lots of competitions have entry fees...
as far as beba is concerned....of course is a campaign to make money and bring people into the bar...isnt that what its for...umm...to make money...umm for everybody...you wanna be a dj to make some cash right??
and i noticed that maxx has made a prize list for the nightly winners to winback this cash anyway...sooooo....its kinda like goin to the casino right...you gamble and if you win....you get everybodys cash....YEA!..
hahaha....anyway....who cares what u play....come on and play...put yer money where your mouth is and lets have a blast...
either way...this whole thing is meant to be fun...MAKE MONEY...and of course...network....
if you dont have any money....stay home (ya...lets go out and drink water....LOL) |

LMAO Oh wow, I'm so busted, I don't have the 20$. lol
I think it's the principle mate, they disguise the night as a "contest" and promote under the umbrella of giving new dj's a break. But ultimately it's just another club night, in another club on College, although this time they've thrown in some amateurs (who they are making pay an entry fee) and BEGGING them to bring their friends so that cash is spent at the bar.
Either you're incredibly naive, or also helping to promote this party.
I'm so irritated with promoters coming on this board under the guise of contributing to tranceaddict. |

first of all no one is beggin you or your friends to come....i think THAT is naive....we would like you to, yes. But BEG?! whatever.
and of course im helping promote the party....READ THE NAME!!!
ive been playing for close to 20 years....for me its ALWAYS been about the music AND the dj's. we all want top make money for the things we do well...
anyway...to all that have posted here...id support any of you if you invited me to a party....
AND id even pay the cover charge with no hesitation....because i know that its to support YOU! |

hah I was just gonna bring that up, how I'm approaching this argument from the standpoint of a loyal Beba patron.
(search back to old review threads, to see me being a STRONG advocate of the Sydney Blu endorsed Thurs nights at Beba)
I live 10 seconds from College, and I love Beba. This has nothing to do with anything else BUT the fact that I don't like promoters taking advantage of the TA cash cow. (posing as friends, or in this case, pretending it's an opportunity, and that you're doing US a favor)
I don't blame you mind you, but I do feel some quasi-loyalty pride in defending what people can't decipher as "promoter talk" or "real friend throwing a party talk"
Does that make any sense? I may be out of line a few times in this thread (and for that I apologize), and I know you're just trying to run a succesful night. But I do feel perhaps you may be approaching it from the wrong direction. Whenever money is involved on this board, I immediately take it very seriously. (as we all should)
