they're synonyms!!

Um, not really. Hobos are homeless migrants that carry those bags tied around sticks. Rednecks, on the other hand, have homes and the money to do things like hunting and watching NASCAR, etc.

What you seem to have some much trouble grasping is that it isn't one or the other.

You don't have to dress yourself up in ridiculous and impractical attire in order to keep your body in good physical condition. Skin moisturizer is not an essential part of maintaining good personal hygiene. And none of those four seperate conditioners you use in your bi-hourly showers is going to soak into your brain and make you any more knowledgeable about the world in which you live.

Being a metrosexual has nothing to do with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, nor does it bear any specific relevance to one's education, sophistication, or personal hygiene. It's about wearing certain clothes, using certain kinds of products and services, and presenting yourself in a certain way - none of which offers any objective advantage to one's physical or mental vitality whatsoever. It is a purely superficial quest for a personal image that some will see as beautiful and others will see as ridiculous.

Yeah, sorry, the one word post didn't make any sense to me because I'm not up on my Great Depression-era vocab. For all I knew, it was some slang I wasn't familiar with.

uh i don't think i have trouble grasping anything about the concept.

i think something that a lot of people, perhaps including yourself, seem to have a hard time grasping is that really what this whole thing is about is a dedication towards a better lifestyle, but people are too often wrapped up only in the physical aspect because it's the most obvious. i don't think i'm so wrong in suggesting that as a rule, people that take care of themselves physically will strive to excel in other areas of life. you say metrosexual has nothing to do with a healthy lifestyle and i say it has everything to do with that. metros are interested in an urban way of life...which is among other things, the pursuit of achieving a certain personal image as you said. and while being healthy or intelligent might not have anything to do with moisturizing or whatever you want to say...but the mental state which drives the desire to do things such as that is also going to drive other aspects of a person's life including a desire to learn and be physically fit. so yes people can be healthy without wearing certain types of clothing...and yes people can have genius without keeping a nice appearance, but i think there is some level of connection for a lot of people that have the metro mentality.

so yeah it's not essential that people have this lifestyle to be healthy and it's not an independent trait of people who do, but i think those that care about themselves will more likely find certain things about being metro attractive...
