New club in San Diego - Belo - ex E Street Alley

Anybody know anything about it?

I always thought that E-Street Alley was a terrific club before it was taken over by hip-hop. Underground (literally), spacious and a great vibe. I know a while ago there was an incident that a patron was killed by a bouncer and the club since has dropped off the map.

It is now reopening soon as Belo and boasts of bringing in international DJ's (whatever that means). Anyway an added bonus is the club was licensed for after-hours (i.e. in San Diego terms closes @ 4:00am). The club is located on E street between 4th and 5th.

Details anyone?

Yeah it sounds interesting and E-street was a good sized club. I hope they can pull it off.

I agree. the hiphop takeover killed it for me. But it is underground (on broadways best shows are in karma lounge for sure) and they can fit a good amount of people. lets cross the fingers
Ill do some searching. post up any info

Great. If I hear anything I'll post it too.

I also agree about the Karma Lounge. If I recall E-Street had the same feel only better.

It says they'll have "house, hip hop, R&B, mash-ups, 80’s & live music"...Doesn't sound too promising.

Some of my best memories were at E Street. When I first started clubbin', it was E Street. I actually met my fiancee there.

Also, to clarify the bouncer incident. It was a club patron who killed a bouncer, not the other way around. A guy was getting kicked out, and as he was being escorted up the stairs, got agitated at the bouncer pushing him up the stairs. The guy turns around and punches the bouncer in the face, knocking him out cold. He falls backward and hits his head on the concrete. My ex-roommate saw the entire incident and was called as a witness during the trial. This was an unfortunate event, and yes, probably the beginning of the end for E Street.

I hope Belo finds its niche at the new L5. San Diego needs to bring back a decent Afterhours scene.
