RickyM & Nomen Nescio Present : <R.N.M> - Cosmic
View this Thread in Original format
Nomen Nescio
Hey fellow trance addicts,

RickyM got in contact with me over a nice melody he made a few months back. He thought the melody sounded Nomen Nescio'ish. And it did indeed :D We then decided to start a collab together. After two weeks of hard work we are almost done with the track and we now feel confident enough to share it with you guys for some constructive feedback :)

The collab is called and the tracktitle is "Cosmic" :)

You can listen to a large part of the track (till the end of the leadsection at:

RickyM & Nomen Nescio : link here!!

Cheers everyone for your feedback. We hope you will like our new founded collab :)
Sunquest
hey guys,
listenin to ur tune :)
first things first, get rid of the rolling kick every 20 seconds, its no good...
the voice sounds great, really middle eastern style :toocool:

beats are great, just maybe a little too much high on it, and clap needs definatly louder

i think the break at 4:30 should happen sooner, the strings are great, theres is a big distortion during the break, around the 4:30 part and on till 5:30...

overall its very euphoric, uplifting, good stuff, and good luck guys :)

Peace from your friendly neighbor,
Ron

that voice is in fantastic. is that a vst? if so where can i get it? that drop at 0:59 is superb very uplifting. didnt really enjoy the 1st minute but after that it makes up 4 it. that synth at 1:55 is very euphoric just ur style nomen. reminds me of something but i just cant put my finger on it. break down kicks ass (apart from distortion as uve mentioned. lol)

overall i hav 2 say i fink ur on to a winner once u sort out 1 r 2 faults. very nice work! ;)

Hey guys, didn't know you two were an item ;)

Cool bit of trance, LOVE the stuttered vocal. Pretty standard structure... but then that's to be expected (hence it being the standard!).

It sounds like the bass is slowing the track a bit with the sound/notation it uses... may be worth adding a quiet mid-range bass sound (maybe a saw or something) on top playing a different rhythm to help it flow, see what works. The bass sound itself is cool though, fits well with the tune, although loses definition when everything else is in there... could probably do with being a bit louder anyway.

I know I say this in every blinkin review I give anyone :p but I'll say it again :D - picking a mid range perc sound or two and bringing them out more to make them more noticeable and part of the foreground could really help... percussion shouldn't necessarily all be part of the backing track!

Very picky point => the click on the kick is a little bit too strong and high, as the kick isn't very bassy it kinda means it ends up sounding too clicky.

Keep it up chaps. :)

5.5/10... so nearly there but something's still not quite right

(Mark scale: 0 Give Up, 1-3 Gonna take some more work, 4-5 Nearly there, 6-8 Signable, 9-10 Outstanding)

two of the big guns on this forum collab...:)

a fine kick is on show as i expected..

build: vocal im not sure of.. maybe a bit 'moonman' - 'dont be afraid'

synth notation sounds a bit repetetive and dated, prob only my opinion tho....

3;55 break: melody is very unpredictable which is a good thing. it doesnt really grab attention but definately has sophistication.

beat comes back: im not sure of the melody actually. it works very well during the break but i recon more of a non tuneful version would work better. which uses the tune but only in the break?

overall the track sounds very full and pro. but i feel it misses something, maybe a bit textbook?. i was hoping for something more original and with loads more emotion tho :( . how did you do this track? is it rickys melody but built but nomen? or vice versa?

rich:)

Wow great track guys, loved that synth man really moved me, and your production can't get any better. Really amazed by this guys. Loved every minute of it.
kopi_luwak
I concur with sunquest and rich, but so far is going really nice man, waiting for the final version :D.

+1

I think this track is intended to be emotional but is not that much.
RickyM
Hey guys thanks for the comments on the track, we are grateful :)

PDM - the track wasn't really meant to be emotional - we tried to make as banging and driving a track as our current skills allow.

THanks W Ashley glad to hear you liked the track so much :)

And the vocal isn't a VST - its just a wav sample I had that I cut up a bit then gated :)

hey guys,

its a cool track you 2 produced ;)

anyways, i have to agree with ron about the buildup, its too long, the break should be coming a bit earlier imo. Nice buildup, though, however i really miss some distorted effect(line)s from there. You got some cool gated vocals here, the strings are great, i agree, nice melody after the breakdown.

keep it up, guys! ;)

RickyM
THanks Peter :)

Updates have been made:

<> Kick high end has been toned down
<> Highed volume clap
<> Bassline a bit more sexual
<> Distortion removed from the breakdown
<> Synth volumes tinkered

Thanks ;)

Aye, whens the wedding.. :D

-Anyway, i'm not much for that kick. I think you need something alot more fuller because it's still too high end.
-The reverb with the hats is too strong.
-I like the harmonies with the synth. Definately old skool which i'm starting to get back into. You just need some cheesy vocals and you're sorted.
-Speaking of vocals, that sample is fecking immense. Love it, adds alot of atmosphere.
-Break is nice, strings are definately filling.
-Melody reminds me of a Gouryella tune so that cant be a bad thing.

Nice tune overall but im not to sure it would get signed today. Maybe back in 99... :tongue3
