From what he told me this past weekend he's going to Calgary for a snowboard season and then back home.
Make sure you visit!! |

dood. you can get there via TTC. take the subway to kipling and then catch the 192 airport rocket express. it goes to all terminals. you can get to pearson from anywhere on the subway for only $2.50
it takes a while, but is cheaper than a shuttle. |

I don't think you guys grasp the enormity of my luggage...
I'm not sure of the dimensions exactly, but I'd guess it's at least 1 metre, by maybe 75 by like 50, or something like that. When I put it on the scales coming to Canada, I think it was something like 35+ kg. The size of a typical snowboard bag is about 170cm long, and isn't exactly the easiest shape to work with, even if it has wheels on the bottom.
So basically, I have two huge bags that roll on the ground, not to mention my actual carry on bag, which will be loaded with stuff. It doesn't leave much room for manoeuvreability, and especially on the subway system. I know it's not all that hard to transfer on the subway normally (I take it every day to work up to Finch anyway), but trying to do it with so much crap is a little bit of a struggle. Same applies for crossing the street. Broken pavement is your worst enemy when you've got two rolling bags of luggage.
As for flying, the extra weight would strain my wings too much. I've already over used them this year, and my doctor told me I need to hold off on using them except in emergencies, for fear of occupational overuse syndrome.
As for teleporting, there's a sign on my end of the button that says "out of order". I'd rather trust the sign and take my chances elsewhere. Especially when it's got to do with a teleporter.
Nat: Yes, I will be, once I finish my ski season in Fernie.
Lisa: I'll come back and visit for like two days after I'm done with my season if that helps (mostly to pick up crap that I'm leaving here eg business shirts and whatnot). Then I fly back to Aus for a good fair while (at least in theory). |

Sounds good to me! I'll make sure to make the trek up to TOronto for when you're here!
I'll get to see you at Scumfrog one last time before you leave though...RIGHT!!
And Aus...I'm sure you'll be back soon...you won't be able to resist us! :) |

Well, you'd best take into consideration that I get back to TO on a Sunday night, and fly out on Tuesday morning... I doubt I'll be up for much partying, if any at all. That entire last week at Fernie will be a mess, since Australia day is in that last week I'm there, then I've gotta party hard for the last weekend I'm in Fernie, so that pretty much writes off the rest of the time I'm in Canada.
And yes, I'll be at scumfrog. The way you guys keep going on about 'em makes it hard to avoid. |

Well hopefully you'll be down for a little chillin' or something. You can come to are after parties and hang out...or if I'm up in Toronto anyway, I'm sure we could get together. Maybe have a big TA goodbye gathering!
And Scumfrog - WOO HOO! We tend to be able to convince ppl quite well here on TA. I know I get pressured into going to parties all the time!! haha...but NEVER any regrets! |

Hey mate, I just caught the airport express last week. It costs $15.50 but is worth every cent if you have tonnes of gear or need to get to the airport at a ridiculous hour. My plane left at 7:15am and it was pouring rain on the day I left so the airport shuttle was the obvious choice.
It all depends on how keen you are to save a few dollars and whether you like carting your luggage around the city. |

Awesome! My family has a chalet in Fernie and I used to ski there quite a bit when I was young.
Be sure to dip your balls in the hot spring and think of me. ;) |

Can I just use the chalet instead? :p
mtb: Thanks for the advice on the airport shuttle. We'll see how I feel closer to the day about carting crap. If it isn't an impossibility, I could try for it. I'll try keep this updated, for the benefit of others. Or maybe I should just make a post in the TO visitor info thread once this is all done? |
