Hi,
After a busy time i finally managed to work on a new track. It's called 'Between Sea and Sky'. It's in my usual dreamy trance style. I hope you like it.
Here's the link:
Update: Here's the full finished version, sorry for the somewhat lq, i have my reasons;)

great stuff, as usual!
sounds a bit like the music Jonas Steur makes =). that's a big compliment, since I think he's one of the few trance producers with a fresh sound. ;)
productionwise not really a comment.
keep it up! |

Work on making your instrument entrances a little more subtle whether that is starting them at a lower dynamic or automtating them.
You overlap the main instruments. By the time 3 layers have entered the melodies change into harmony. If you still desire the independance of each of those melodies pan them to different speakers and move them around your sonic landscape.
The drum loop is repetative.
The B section theme is beautiful. Keep working with it to make it even better. Change it ever so slightly each entrance. You can do this by starting it a beat late, changing the register (moving up or down and octive) or automating it.
Good stuff. |

Listening...
I assume you just cut the intro and just faded in, so I won't criticize that.
I like the bassline, it is not innovative but does the job nicely.
Cool groove going on in the intro part.
Nice hi hat sounds, maybe they'd need a tad more of volume, but just a tad.
Beautiful melody in the break, and cool atmosphere goint on there as well.
Use some panning to separate the melodies, trust me, I've been trying for ages to make the main melodies just blend together but it wont happen.I like this melodic work, it of course will be happy to get a good master on, looking forward the final work.

The sound scape is huge. It is dominated by the bass drum. The higher freguency rhythm lifts the tune, though feels like background ambience. It feels like noise rather than a groove... Though it does build the track.
2:00 im not a big fan of lengthy "hissing" hihats. But that's just my preference.
2:30 the build up is great. The rhythm & pad combo is engulfing. I have an emotion connection with it, which is a sweet thing.
3:00 awesome deep bass :p
3:50 brilliant progression. It's a very uplifting track. The layering is great now. Every element has it's place = sweet synth selections.
It's a great track Ron. You are a very talented producer!!!

Thx for the comments. About the overall mix, it's supposed to sound rich and full, i like it that way (and the arps are allready panned btw)
I must admit that i used a bit too much compression on the final preview. I've uploaded a new version witch is a bit less compressed. |

Some minor things I think you have to work on:
The kick can be a lot deeper, don't like this one very much. It's too punchy or something.
The melody is very great but I think the lead can have a lot more release or increase the lengt of the notes. More delay is needed for a more "floating" sound.
Percussion is too standard. Make some loops with shakers and conga's or bongo's (or whatever these instruments are called.
Overall a great track! Well done! :gsmile: |

Hey Romi,
You basically already know what I think of this track. I love the melody and productionwise there is not much to bitch about it. I just think you are repeating yourself which of course is not that bad since all your tracks are class. I'd just prefer to hear a track from you with a different lead and bassnotation and a different kind of atmosphere than what you always do.
This track sounds more professional than previous tracks though so far, but it is definately not your best. Maybe that is because when I started listening I more or less knew all the sounds which would be in the track.
Keep it up mate! |

| its all very stereo type stuff imo....nothing really interesting or oustanding. It does what it has to do, some neat sounds, nice full sound but nothing too inovative or interesting. |

The finished version (96k) is now online, changed some sounds and percs are a bit louder now (is maybe not that noticable in this lq version though) and again thx for the comments.

Finally another Romi Track - and yes - it's good again. The lead has changed since last time (don't know if anyone has bothered to check - the harshness technological world has is gone), and now it's really warm and full , even playing (almost - strings in the background) solo , i like it ... it's not that default supersaw (which i do like though) , and it works great !
The Buildup is good, the breakdown at the end wasn't .
The bassdrum is fat enough , the opening hihat pattern & choice of sound is good.
Think the stereo delay bassline that kicks in first could use some tweaking, sound is too generic imo.
The Lower bassline is good (comparable to previous tracks)
All in all i think you're establishing your "sound"... it's always a good thing to be recognizable - don't let anyone tell you otherwise - they all complain about the icone sound but still everybody likes it ... then what's to complain about ... |
