i really like electronic music and i'm sure most of us appreciate this culture very much. trance along with other genres of electronica are more underground than the 92.5fm stuff but have come a long way since it's birth. commercialization of this musical phenomenon was inevitable but i think it's more special if it were kept underground and not so much corporate envolvement. the fans of electronica are at events for the music, people, and a great time. the corporations motive behind funding these events, i would assume is more with surveys, info, and that means investing in the market for a profit. you guys notice most of the big events lately have been sponsored by big corporations. it seems like it will continue that way for a while because big parties have big costs which means big risks. not many promoters willing to take the risk.

the good thing about the corporate funding is that we are able to party at great venues with great music.

what do you think about this issue?

i don't mind. it's not hampering the events or the quality of music created, so i don't care.

Im all for it. It usually means that I pay less for a ticket, and that is always good. I heard that the smirnoff thing was good, the Benson and Hedges things are usually good.

makes me happy!

although not a popular opinion, I'm still a firm believer in grass roots DIY underground trance parties.

A little less flash, but low cover, banging music, and great vibes. Out here in denver, we throw small intimate indoors events during winter (150 + people) and all summer long we throw outdoor renegades.

I personally am over the DJ is god aspect of this scene, and have gotten tired of all the advertisements, the big labels, the big DJs... of course they still have their place...but I'm rambling now :)

cheers,

I am all for corperate sponsorship of big events. A garage full of people with a smell DJ is fun, but a hangar full of people with multiple big DJs is exellent. The sheer number of people makes for a high energy show and tons of fun whether or not there are a bunch of joans there just "clubbin." So whatevr, thats my story and im stickin to it!

i don't really mind when large companies sponser parties. it usually means getting free !:D :D :D
plus, bigger sponsers = more DJs
More DJs = amazing parties
