Interesting theory. Regardless of their motivation, they aren't going to get what they want; their constant haranguing of Steve Jobs and iTunes just proves how out-of-touch with reality they really are. Even $1 for every MP3 on everyone's computer is never going to happen.
It is pretty much about power for them. They want to control the artists, they want to control the stores and resalers, they want to control the consumers (to the point of putting rootkits on their computers - and yes, I *am* going to keep bringing that up every time I hear Sony or the recording industry mentioned). Their power lust is eventually going to be their downfall. |
