The more people keep bringing him up, the more popular everyone is making him seem. It's all cheese but atleast he's right up there with Sammy for being known as the cheese queens.
Acheesta should be the name to make him feel right at home. :whip:

ANd whatever, everyone ing loved Sammy back in the day. Can't believe he gets so much slack. Just like Darude, everyone here knows they were in LOOVEEEE with Sandstorm when it first came out.
If you didn't, you either just weren't into trance then, are flat out lying, or one of the few who is telling the truth. |

Honestly, I never cared much for Sandstorm, but I really liked almost all of his subsequent productions (Feel The Beat, Out Of Control, Music, Next To You, the Synaesthesia remix).
And if you ever listen to Darude's ETN show these days, you know that he's playing good stuff. The one last week was :eyes:

Everyone liked Sandstorm at one point. I remeber when all you could hear on the strip was Sandstorm and 9pm till I come!

| Acutually..I thought Acosta was ok.. no complaints.. It was not as crowded as I thought It should be..considering last time it was PACKED! but..maybe that's cuz it was 18+ ..?? I still had a good time hanging out. I did miss Michelle...:( :sadgreen: |

Heaven's gates opened at 10:22 (Hollywood Men again :whip: ).
Gil La played an excellent selection of tracks that included some of my favorites. I was very happy :)
Then Doran played some strange stuff; definitely not real trance :rolleyes: I guess he should have opened (or at least closed) instead...
George Acosta started around 1:30 with some good tunes (like the Super8 banging mix of Time Goes By) and finished just before 4:00 with a new latin-flavored song he's working on with Jon Secada on vocals.
I now understand why so many people have such strong views about him. He definitely defies conventions. He doesn't have a standard style that he sticks to and his mixing is not consistent. So I guess the result can be unsettling for some. But that doesn't matter much to me; only what is being played does.
And that was not consistent either. He repeatedly went back and forth between good trance and other random/hard stuff that I didn't care about. I actually stepped away from the main room for a quite while after DJFaded and neinerlove left (thanks for hanging out so late, guys ;)), so I didn't really pay close attention to the whole set. I did like several of the tunes that he played throughout the night, but nothing near like Gil.
I missed the Truth live performance just before the end :(
This was probably the largest crowd so far this fall at Heaven and it increased when Acosta went on and stayed in numbers later than usual. I did not notice anything really different about the crowd itself.
So what do I think of Acosta after this? Well, he's certainly not one of my favorite DJs, but I don't think that he's so bad that he should be avoided at all cost. That's reserved for Filo & Peri :p |
