Hello again folks, basically ive been thinking long and hard was hoping that i could eventually work in NYC for a while, alltho im really not sure as to what procedures i have to go through being a foriegn citizen, cold anyone help me out here?

I believe without a visa etc im aloud to stay in America for a maximum of 90 days, not sure if im aloud to work during that period?

Also would anyone advise me against it?

What sort of jobs are availible, i dont mind what i do really, Mc Donalds, Burger king is out of the question, i have dignity! :stongue:

Plus i will eventually need accomodation, im guessing its very exspensive to live in NYC, what wold be the best approach for that?

Any help would be much appriciated guys/girls :)

If you dont have a permanent residency permit then I beleive you have to be sponsored by and emplyer to extend the lenght of time you can live and work here if that is your intention. You need a social security card to work in the US. I would suggest calling the department of labor or the consulate building for the country you reside in the get official instruction from them to be on the safe side. You dont want to work and then have something shady happen and not get your paycheck so make sure u follow the rules.

If u find someone cool they may give you something off the books (for cash) and then U wont really have to report to anyone but the chances of that are slim if you dont know the right people.

If you are doing any type of skilled trade etc proof of a license to do that trade is required and I dont beleive they accpet foreign licenses.

Damn yeah, i forgot about the whole getting sponsored thing, i remember a friend say that was the only thing holding her back!

makka: what kinda work would u Like to do?

waitering/bartending is prally the easiest work to get for a long period of time w/o any visa. (read: u'll be illegal after 90 days but at least u'll be working! :p )

Right now here in England thats what im doing, im Waitering, so doing in NYC would be schweeet, much better surroundings :)

Finding a job sounds relativly easy, its the Apartment side of things which worries me! :nervous:

you can always try to get a job at pacha
since you do have experience with the whole ibiza thing.
