Bad News For Local DJ's Who Go To Glow In DC.

if you bring your demo cds to glow they will be confiscated from you at the door.
My Cds' were taken from me at the front of the line.
Now ive been coming to glow for years. since the club Zei days. And i have never once said anything bad about the policies ever.i dont complain about dj lineups or anything else. i just dont. people who know me from here know that. when people complain about the security being a little to hardcore ive neve complained because i understand how things operate (if giavanni's reading this he knows ive helped him throw quite a bit of rowdies out to keep things peaceful).
When people complain that they cant have glowsticks i understand that the club wants to keep under the goverments radar as they seem to link glowsticks with drugs.
When people complain about the dress policy i understand that they are trying to maintain a non"raver esque" image on the dancefloor.
i understand these things.
but taking cds from local djs who just want to get their music heard i just dont understand.
i dont see the security risk. and i dont understand why they took the guy in front of me's cd of talla's technoclub that he wanted to have autographed.
Even Pete and Dan had to start somewhere.I'm really gutted over this .
I have to thank das mario and some friends of mine for picking my spirits up because max and talla were truly fantastic and i really enjoyed their sets, but it killed me to tell the people i was meeting there i didnt have thier cds for them.I've made a lot of positive contacts at glow from handing my cds out and am crushed that that will no longer happen now.
I'm a huge glow supporter and always will be and this is the first thing that's happened that will actually now limit my appearances to only certain events from now on.I've never in my six plus years with glow ever complained about anything but this one i felt i just had to say something. As a DJ whos given nothing but support i just had to say something.
ive also posted this on the glow boards but the thread was i believe moved on purpose to a forum where nobody goes or reads so it wont get attention. I'm posting it here because this has always been a safe forum for me and i want other djs to know about this. it will save you time and money. if there is any responce by panarama or glow i will post an update in this thread.
thanks. |

| Damn man i totally faal ya...thats freakin lame of them. Hopefully management will say something to the door people, cuz ur totally right, everyone starts somewhere, young producers/dj's should always have that opportunity to spread their music. |

Glow has always been one of the most unfriendliest clubs I've ever been to. Not from the crowd standpoint - more from the staff. Security are boneheads and take their job waaaay too seriously. C'mon, meathead, if you really wanted to be a cop you should have studied for that cop exam harder. Oh, you're afraid of actual violence on the street, so you chose your little pond where you could live out your glory days as a high-school jock? Great choice!
Just to give you an idea: I'm in the restroom in Glow. Some dude is doing something illegal in bathroom stall behind me. This big gorilla storms in, knocking all doors open. Catches this moron red-handed. Well, norm should be - give him to the cops and call it a night. Nope, not this guy. First, he yells "What the are you doing, ?!", then punches the guy in the chest. Next thing he does - searches him, which while understandable is not fully legal. It's not his job to search him - it's cops'. Ok, moving on. Next thing he confiscates whatever he finds and pockets it. Now, the next thing (and this totally shocked me). He asks the guy to give him his wallet. Dude gives his wallet, thinking he's looking for ID. NOOOOO... This guy takes his cash, takes guy's ID and hands the wallet back. Then he says "I know where you live mother****** now - so just keep your mouth shut and get the out of my club or I'll hand you over to DC metro (police)!". He then glares at me and yells "you got a problem too, ?" I just turn around and walk out.
That's just one experience... not to mention plenty other -ups I've been through. That's why I stopped going to Glow. It's a hole nowdays and this is definitely one club I would not cry over if it were permanently shut down.
DC Clubbing scene used to be so much better. Sad how ed up it has become...
btw, speaking of glowsticks, my friend snuck his LED flashlights into the club. AS soon as he took them out, security guy took the LED's and kicked my friend out of the club without even a word. Sorry, but isn't that a bit too harsh? |

unless i hear something from panarama ill def. be limiting going to only certain events. you never know what local talent will be the next dj you see live at glow but now some of those djs might not ever get the chance... |

| The bouncers can be s, but the Panorama guys are committed to fixing if you have a problem. It's unfortunate that Fur has such ty staff, but Glow is still without question the best night for trance and house in DC. Unfortunately for the promoters, I can't think of any clubs that would be better suited for the night. |

| I heard from a friend that Paul van Dyk never spun at glow during grand opening, because he was wearing sneakers. |

I dont know if we r talking about the same guy...but yeah this is what happened to a friend of mine...driving down all the way from state college, PA n this is what u get in return.
Well I am kinda used to FUR by now!
But...theres more to the story...so at the end this friend was chatting with talla n he also went to the entrance to get his cd back so he could get it signed. They told him the cd had 'disappeared' n they had no idea where it was. So Talla (awesome person) actually asked one of his bouncer/friend to bring the cd...n that guy came back with the cd...it had mysteriously reappeared!! SO yeah my friend did get it autographed eventually! but after going thru all that ! |

I think Paul did play, but he's never been back since coz a lot of his fans complained to him about the fact that they were not let it coz they were wearing sneakers...n I guess Paul was kinda surprised coz he was wearing sneakers n they let him spin! |
