Need Advice! Want to buy M-Audio Audiophile 2496 USB

Hello guys,
in the next few weeks I want to upgrade my soundcard with the Audiophile 2496 USB [not very expensive,I'm on budget right now].I want to buy the USB version because I found it at a very nice price in a local store and because I want to use it with my future laptop.
But right now I will use it for my desktop system.I heard a lot of good thigs about the Pci 2496 version and I want to know if the USB version is the same.I have USB 1.1, do you think is a problem if I don't have USB 2.0 ?
Is the right choice for making music at a professional level??

| Oh good lord, don't do it. The USB version of the Audiophile is HORRIBLE. But the PCI is absolutly fantastic... sort of weird. |

| You buy a new soundcard and have driver problems imediatly!. You need to start with downloading the new drivers from the site and a have fast usb connection, USB 2.0, before it works in XP, nice?!. |
