Underground gigs

How come I went to london this weekend for New Years @ the dome, and loads of people were telling me about underground gigs.
Yet, in Newcastle, I've been looking for months, and noone knows anything about them?!?
I wanna find an underground event in Newcastle so I can party the night away. At the dome, I was dancing from 9pm until 9am, and could have gone for hours more!
How the hell do I go about finding one of these gigs afterhours in the toon? |

| i dunno of any either. i wish we had some round here. all there is here is scandelous behaviour which is in darlo rather than boro, but thats run 6pm-midnight, and on a sunday, which isnt exactly the most partyable of a time slot is it :( |

Ask around dude hang out at places were a lot of people involved in Djing and promoting frequent or were loads of people who know people go you know the types I'm talking about, and once you gain some trust people will tell you. Someones always putting on underground events in Warehouses, industrial units, forest you name it there not around as much as they were in the late 80s and earlier 90s but their around, you just got to hang around and get to know people, once they realise your not some spy or grass they'll end up saying 'hey theres something going on this warehouse in this industrial estate here come along and bring some mates'
Like we were invited to an illegal rave in some warehouse on N.Y.E but we were completly wrecked so we didn't go, the bloke who gave us the tip aswell was like a musical boffin in the year above us, who we used to go to school with but he turned towards electronic music and underground culture and all that stuff towards the end of school.
I warn you though some of the illegal events can either be e or their completly wicked, plus its got that cool element that pigs can come and bust the place any minute. |

many years ago, when i was a wee slip of a lad, 5 to be exact, i woke up early one morning with the queerest feeling in my stomach. Afraid, i dashed into my fathers bedroom where i felt certain questions needed to be answered.
My father took me downstairs and made me a cup of cocoa and sat me on his lap, and said these haunting words:
"Seeketh Ye Not The Rave, But Giveth Birth To The Rave", Not really, i just made all that up, but.... Instead of searching for such events, why not put a little money aside, you and sum friends, and some careful planning, and try and create your own (less than legal) event?. slightly dodgy i know, but in maybe a years time you could have newcastles answer to Insomniacz, or maybe you'll end up in court, just an idea.
Or alternatively, you could walk around newcastle, and look for the guy wiv the most facial piercings, buy him a hit of the finest brown, and im sure you'll get some answers... or a damn good beating!!!
