Just outta curiosity, what is prominent in the Seattle DnB scene, that ranks it up in caliber? I don't know anything of scenes, but I did attend a DnB event here in the Midwest and there was a definite "vibe" It was more intense, kinda cold and... sterile? It seemed to be solely about the music, nothing more. There were no candy kids, it was mainly an older crowd. I felt like I was at a wine tasting, where only the refined tastes were allowed. :stongue: You didn't dance, there were no circles around the breakdancing, everyone was staring straight at the dj, nodding their heads. Because of this, it seemed that at the drop of a Levi jean lint, the whole place was going to combust in tiny particles at any second. It was something I've never witnessed before. As if these people crawled out of the ground, gave their silent, intense recognition and then left, never to speak of the event again as it was some 7th marvel secret of the world. :conf: Am I the only one whos experienced this?

Blame or praise depends on who you ask. The "jazzstep" sound Reece coined when he was on Metalheadz had a lot of followers, but it was also copied and watered out to a large degree. Ultimately, it produced a horde of weedy and navelgazing records which gave the whole idea of mixing jazz with d'n'b quite negative connotations.
Reece later started fighting with Goldie, which pretty much put a nail in his coffin as far as a career within jungle was concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to severe musical differences. |

Some associate "jungle" with older material from the first half of the 1990s, and see drum and bass as essentially succeeding jungle with the newer, post-techstep developments."
So the "post-techstep" is the jazz element that Reece added? Because the majority of ALL the DnB I've listened to reminded me of jazz. How could he have been so influential? |

No problem.
For sure, they're really mint. I downloaded it and then quickly went hunting to find the album. Took me ages but found it, def worth the purcahse imho. Quality stuff and the mixing is flawless.
That reminds me, I have to go hunting for more Aph's stuff...

Jungle, isn't that like Shy FX & UK Apache - Original Nuttah for example? |
