look at the little * and subscripts, theyre the best things ever...
after, "at the top of the trance pantheon is Tiesto*, the most marketed human stereo ever"
* - his cover of adagio for strings was never a good song. ever. |

Oh how i would love to point my finger at dj like ; tiesto, armin, sasha etc for the downfall of the rave scene as i knew it. That is completely im possible to do. And this comic was just made by some cynical little dick. Its the companies, the sponsers, the fans, its everyones fault... The moment dj's became icons, more than just human record players was the begining to a end... Companies, promoters etc saw that people we "willing" to shell out money to see a dj play records being opportunist companies choose to exploit this and charge higher and higher ticket prices, which all of us have been more than willing to pay. We the audience, the crowd are more at fault than anyone else we let our "scene" be currupted with politics and money. Even now im sure there are only a few on this board who even where in the rave scene in the 90's(twilo was a great club yes, but a rave it was not).
After all is said and done from the moment it started there was bound to be a end.. People need to make money and when a chance comes to make a lot of money people will jump on it. Soo you cant really blame any one person or group of people, though you could blame humanity for being opportunist. But even then it doesnt just stop with humans as a species it goes for all living things, they will seek the easiest way to survive.
And as for how i feel about these superstar dj's. Its your money to spend and long as you enjoy it thats all that really matters. That you have fun and enjoy your entertainment. Because at the core of the scene i used to know thats what it was about having fun, respecting others and meeting new people... That comic would seem to be the total opposite as it critisizes someone for liking something and thats not what it was about... |

Good comment. BTW, how many times do I have to see this comic. It's been posted at least 4 other times between music discussion, COR, and even already in the NYC forum, I think. It's just Ishkur's new method of ranting and raving about what's wrong with trance again.
I think the issue is that the raves you're talking about weren't around when a lot of people on the board discovered the music. I mean, just look at the birthdays listed on the main forum page. When everyone's 18-25 now, it's hard for many to have experienced them 10 years ago. Even if I lived in a city then, I doubt I'd have been out all night when I was 14. It wasn't until college that I started listening to any EDM, and that was stuff that crossed over to the alternative rock stations, lik The Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Prodigy, etc. Before that, there just wasn't much exposure to EDM in western PA. If it'd been even remotely available to me, I probably would have been interested, but it wasn't. So I'll settle for what we've got today, because I can't go back in time. While the scene is different, I find the music to be enjoyable. |

Its pretty funny.. But Ish seems hellbent on changing the way everyone thinks, and thats in facist-ist.
Maybe he doesn't realize that Most people today don't care about the Rave Culture because it no longer exists, and Rave culture will never come back in the form it once was.
So get over it. |

word up - i used to think he was tongue-in-cheek with his criticisms but over the years he's exposed himself as a miserable wretch. instead of creaming himself everytime he finds a .25 cent klf cassingle in a bargain bin, he should get some sunlight and down a few drinks... |
