we used to do that all the time when we were kids. In russia, you could literally find killograms of that crap on construction sites - it was used (if I recall correctly) by welders for something. We'd drop chunks of it in puddles, toilets, whatever bodies of water and watch it go nuts.
Other fun activities we enjoyed were throwing aerosol cans into bonfires, punching a hole in asphalt, filling it with whatever crap they put on matches (can't recall what it's called) and then placing a nail on top of it. You then drop a rock on it and it explodes. Depending on how much stuff from matches you packed in the hole, the explosion could range from "pft" to a bang that would throw the nail out at the speed of a bullet.
Hm. What else. My 6th grade classmate bet that he would do crunches suspended from a bar, upside down... The bar was a barrier on a roof of a 12 story building. He did 15 crunches before the other guy begged him to stop.
Jackass has nothing on the crap we used to do in Soviet Russia. :D |

| not something I saw, but a couple of friends went on vacation.. One night they had a discussion whether you should or should not drink Baileys and coke/7up (or anything with a lotta gas) after that, since that gets the Baileys really thick.. Friend A told friend b he would get stomach sick, friend b didn't believe it. They mixed the baileys & 7up in one glass, and it indeed got very thick. Friend B was stubborn and still tried to prove his point by drinking it. Result: he had to puke all night. |

Yeah, I'm in chem and I can attest to the large amount of stupid stuff I've done or witnessed. Such as:
Girl accidentally exposed a signficant amount of sodium hydride (NaH) to water. Fire ensued. Tried to extinguish said fire with fire blanket... blanket caught fire. Ended up burning a hole in the tiled floor. Intense.
Guy attempted to inject some zinc amalgam (read: mercury) into a sealed vial. Mishandled the syringe. Mercury exploded out the top and hit him in the face. Watching someone wipe mercury off their lip - priceless.
Girl in an analytical lab tried to take her sample out of an oven without proper safety equipment. Not just any oven. An 800°C furnace. She put her bare hand in it. The whole lab smelled like burning flesh.
Guy (me) didn't perform a separation properly and allowed hundreds of mLs of dibutyldisulfide solution to spill on the floor. Worst smelling stuff... ever. Required a gallon of Javex just to improve matters to the point where it could be dealt with more thoroughly.
