Will the new ver support viris|poco? :)

ok well yes saving ppl from a $5000 purchase to find nothing better does make sense, however those who already have a mac would prolly love to know how FL runs on virtualPC.... I know I'm curious.

Hey. Here are my impressions.

Things that I'm mainly looking for but probably wont be addressed:
-Better automation clip support - A big peeve of mine is that you can automate using either midi events or FLS automation clips and you cant convert them back and forth. This definitely needs to be addressed!
-Better support of wave editing - I know, I know, I harped on how FLS can be a decent wave editor, but while it works if you dont have anything else, it could be much easier. There is an included wave editor, but when compared to the likes of Audition, its not that great. This isnt an enormous issue since I dont think I'll ever stop using Audition but it would be nice for on the fly adjustments.
-More effects would be nice - Theres a wide variety of effects for FLS that come bundled but I feel it still lacks. The vocoder could use some revamping with some high harmonic internal generators so you can have stereo vocoding. It would be very nice to have a nice, very easy to use, comb/formant filter.
-Sound Analyzing - Lastly, the major thing I would like to see included in FLS is a good set of sound analyzing software. I dont really need to this since I really like the Waves analyzer but this would definitely be a nice addition for those that dont.

Things I've excited about :
-Envelope Generator/Controller - This will be a highly welcomed addition to the already nice, and quite unique to FLS, set of internal controllers.
-Delay Bank - I'm a big fan of delays and this seems that it will be an excellent delay plugin. From what I can tell, it will have up to 8 seperately controllable read heads, like a tape delay but with some really nice control over each echo.
-Multiband Compressor - This was a muchly needed plugin and I'm glad they are finally including it. Its not the best multiband compressor I've seen, but it does have an output display which is a very nice feature. The only thing lacking I see is the compressor envelop display.

This is just my impression of the stance on FLS for the present and the up and coming release of FLS6.

Cheers,
Zac

Bahahahahah, I can't believe you just posted that.

Hahahahaha

wait a minute...

HAHAHAHA :haha: :haha: :haha:

No hard feelings bro, but you've gotta admit that is seriously funny .

Yeah, I know :P. Like I said, it works if you have nothing else, but I'll admit, it could be a lot easier. Hence why I dont tend to use it for wave editing :P. Audition is way easier when doing stuff like compressing and recording vocals and then doing vocal effects :P.

It seems the real topic of the thread has been lost... hate when that happens. Guess no one has much to say about version 6. ;)

All control/automation events can now be edited in the Piano Roll, see item 4 - Target Control.

Piano roll now offers 16 note colors (that can act as separate MIDI channels).

New scale-detecting helper in piano roll (check hint bar when on).

Piano roll helpers also mark notes that have names (useful with Fruity Slicer).

Alt+click in piano roll/playlist/event editor bypasses the current snap (very handy).

Shift+left/right or Alt+left/right shifts (nudges) selected notes in piano roll/playlist.

Ctrl+mouse wheel to center-zoom at the mouse position in event editors, piano roll & playlist.

Can now edit note properties to change a note into a slide.

Double-right-click piano roll & playlist brings the options menu.

Plugin Delay Compensation (PDC). The new mixer has sample-accurate, per-track, PDC.

Browser

Browser revamped visually, with various enhancements.

Browser smart search feature, allowing searches for things like 'sytrus', 'simsynth' or 'bongo'.

Browser updated to remember its last state, visual drag/drop.

Added CC standard names to popup in MIDI remote control box.

Support for MIDI hold & sostenuto with result directly in piano roll.

Hey. The real purpose of this forum is to correct and help out fellow producers. If there is a misconception presented, and its corrected, take it as a learning student, rather than a disrepectful comment to your knowledge. We are all, always learning and its bad to chase away people who help you do that.

well yes but you have to check if its right first... ppl say stupid things sometimes.

That is good that they are supporting that finally. Can you only have one MIDI output device still? Or is it possible to have more than one in v5 and I just don't know how?

You can do this with fl5. Its a lot easier than it first appears.

1) Create a new Midi Out channel and set its port to the same port as the jp8000.

2) On the Midi Out channel window, choose an unassigned controller knob, and right-click on it. Select configure, and in the 'control settings' dialog that pops up enter a friendly name for the parameter you want to automate. Enter the midi cc number for the parameter on the jp8000. Hit accept.

3) Right click on the knob again, and select 'create automation clip'.

4) Voila your jp8000 (or any other synth) controlled by an automation clip.

Hope this helps.
