I didn't say any event should not be held there. I list it as a choice.

What I am saying is that the Great Lawn, for example, is an ideal spot for an EDM event.

But of course the residents in the area around the park will complain about the noise and crowds.

The way I look at it is that my taxes keep the place clean and accessible just as much as those on CPW or 5th Ave who probably hire good accountants to find them tax loopholes.

And I better not see Dave Matthews or some idiot with saffron colored curtains get first choice of Central Park while us NYTA's have to stay stuck in Rumsey again.

When PVD last played the park there were hundreds of people outside of the park with no tickets and I thought what a shame the venue was too small.

I don't know if any of you guys remember it... but do you know what Boo was? It was a rave on Randall's Island... all day long, it was awsome, they had it for like 5 years, no more though.

How about the George Washington Bridge? That is one beautiful bridge.

Let's not forget Central Park or Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. That is also another big festival type park.

I still have those big ass Boo flyers.

They also hosted the Sixth Element Electronic Music Festival on Randall's Island, back in 2000.

I remember it when I first started getting into EDM. I saw the poster in a 24 hour store around the corner from Noize on 14th and Parsons back in 97 or 98.
They just rebuilt the stadium on Randalls and renamed it Icahn Stadium. That's probably one of the reasons Boo ended at that venue.

Boo 7 was the last Boo at Randalls and Boo 8 was the last Boo altogether, which was hosted at Webster Hall.

By the way whatever happened to stuck on earth anyway?

That was obvious. Show me an honest politician and I'll show you an oxymoron.

I actually like Dave Matthews and when he played on the Great Lawn is was to charity. The Parks departments have limited the number of events that take place on the Great Lawn to preserve it. As mentioned later in this thread Randells' Island (where Dave played this summer) would be a great place to hold and EDM event like you are talking about.

I went to DMB in Central Park. It was very poorly run, especially for a free concert (with recommended donation of at least $25, maybe even $50, don't really remember). You had to get tickets in advance, and that's when you were given the option of donating to an AOL schools charity. There was a 2 hour line to get in, because there was only one entrance on each side of the park and they were checking tickets. When you got in, I couldn't even really see where the stage was (but they did have like 8 huge screens running back the Great Lawn. If any EDM event is run like that, I'd rather not go anyhow. Imagine how bad the lines would be since they'd be checking everyone for drugs, which they didn't do at DMB (and god, there was SOOOO much pot being smoked there, there was literally a haze over the Lawn).

Oh, and apparently the Lawn got destroyed, too, and cost a lot to fix.
