Long answer: Trance IS depressing.

It's depressing when you realize the direction it has turned to, but not really that unexpected, so with a little preperation, you can leave the trance behind and move on

some trance can be depressing because of how it is
dj_bas
lawl...thought so!

Well, it can sound "depressing" because of predominant minor chord progression but overall it is your perception, IMHO.

As expample, take Airbase "Escape" - track can sound depressing if you're depressed but it's a such a sweet depression, though! Every time I listen to that track I can't help but love how it makes me feel. Sad and happy at the same time. It's very emotional... and lots of other choons that have the same effect. For example "Ligaya" or "Tenshi" or AVB's "Communication". stuff like that.

Perhaps melancholy was the word I was looking for--not depressing.

I've recently started listening to trance again (some days/nights more than others) and, frankly it's depressing me. Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?

It was not really depressing me, but sometimes there was a certain tendency towards melancholy indeed. I think some tracks were just too emotional for me...

Long story short, I really didn't find trance music making me happy anymore, so I switched to psy.
And yes, psy is what makes me happy. Really and truly, both from outside and inside :) I have found the music I truly love, truly am into - I AM THIS MUSIC!

Yes ... and I can hardly listen to normal trance anymore because first it has lost its energy to me and second I can't stand this emotional crap anymore ... and when you look beyond the screen it's all fake...

Ach forget it, I'm just ranting...

:haha:

It's coming don't worry. I'm trying to get some tracks together to actually make something that's not dated as :p
Mebot
dated as is the new fad. 2002 -2003 tracks are so in right now.
