Quick question: If you had kids would you "play along" with the whole Santa Claus thing? Or would you tell them that there is no such thing, and that the other kids at school/kindergarten are all being lied to by their parents?

Haha, that's a really good question.

I have a sister that's 4 years old, and she knows that there's a santa, but she's not really able to understand what it is. so it's not like she ever woundered if there was one or not, neither did she ever think of santa in any other way than something else, like a bird or grandpa. So if one would explain that there's no such thing such as a santa, she wouldn't really understand what you mean and just go on with business as usual. So I don't care when someone is telling her santa is comming on christmas eve.

However, when it comes to other things, I tend to tell her the truth rather than some sucky myths that kids usually belive in. Most times trying to explain things to her as well, even though she usually don't get it :p

Once she gets older and is able to comprehend things I won't allow ppl telling stupid things to her though :)

If I had own kids I don't know how I would do, I probably would still play along with santa for a while though, just because it's a nice tradition :) But yeah, as many truths as possible I guess it's good :)

being Jewish solves this dilema.

We don't make up imaginary idols for our children to worship:disbelief

Oh yea? Well what about the golem! Or god for that matter? ;)

If I were to ever have kids (which I won't), I would totally convince them that santa clause, the tooth ferry, and the easter bunny exist. Then at a suitable, impressionable age, I would brutally crush all their beliefs in one fell swoop as a lesson that one should never derive beleifs from faith alone :p. It's a good thing I'm not having kids.

You're not even supposed to get presents on Hannukkah but poor little Jewish boys & girls felt left out... and it was much easier for the commercial industry to consolidate all the holidays into one time period.

Christmas is really just a Christian derivation of a pagan holiday season, likely descending from the ancient Babylonian's and then intertwined with Saturnalia and Brumalia to appease the pagans and make it easier to coerce them into converting. :D

Or a celebration of 3 wise men seeking out the baby Jesus to give him some bling for his crib.

LOL

But in reality, Jesus was really born several months before Christmas.

i think it's nice for kids to believe in santa ....well i discovered the truth when my brother and I when we were kids believed our parents in the car it was a 24th and we were about to go celebrate christmas at my grand parents house with the whole family and my parents told us to stay in the car
my brother secretly went to see what they were doing and he came back telling me "ohhh marie santa doesn't exist that's dad and mom who put the presents around the christmas tree " and then i knew santa didn't exist .....what was funny is that usually my dad would put some cookies and biscuits near the Christmas tree and some glass of alcohol and usually when we would go home the cookies and all would be gone and the glass empty and my parents were usually like "oh look santa ate and drink" and we realized that it was my dad who ate and drank all

...that was the end of the myth !!!!!

but yeah it was good when we used to believe in santa
and now yeah i hate christmas cuz i got my finals and im so stressed out to study when everyone is chilling and in some happy mood
