Question: What is trance?

ok, its like this, Im going to be in front of my class, trying to explain what trance is.. well, I know what it is, but I can't describe it. how can you tell someone what trance is??
opinions please :)

You could start by explaining the differences between the numerous dance styles, like trance, techno, house etc. A lot of people think it's all the same or think that trance is also techno. Then you can explain a little bit more about trance itself. It's purpose is - you could say - to bring people in a trance like the name says. This by tracks who have a lot of melodies in it and are sometimes very emotional. Apart from that you can also describe the typical structure of a trance track.

Why is it all you kids do projects on trance?
Can't you do things that people will understand? Make a damn tornado tube out of two liter bottles for poop's sake. It takes less time and less effort to try and explain repetative music to people who really don't care. At least the aforementioned idea they'll think you can make something kinda cool.

Thanks all :), well the point is Im not doing this for physics, where the poops sake tornado tube would be good, nor for biology where the sex on methamfetamine would be good, hmm thats just plain good anyhow :stongue: ..
This is for Culture & Art.. some new thing here since two years..

:p im in a bèta class, we're mainly educated to have a technological or medical career..
you dont get laid by people who really like tornado tubes :p
you get laid by people who like 140 (and up :p) bpm rythms ;)

I don't understand. what are you saying? that the tracks i posted are not trance?
