You must use Ad-Aware to remove the spyware, if you will remove it manually the left over registry files for the spyware will take revenge by deleting some system files with it. I know this from experience. Also it would be terrible if you are on a LAN network and one computer is the host...the host will get nuked, by the spyware as spyware takes revenge if you delete it(if not deleted by Ad-Aware)that would mean you'd have to fix 2 computers the host and the comp that had spyware...if this happens you must re-install windows or if worse format your HD then re-install windows. |

Personally I use zonealarm as I can deciede what gets to use the net and what doesnt. I also run ad aware after running any program i suspect to contain spyware.
At the end of the day spyware is the way these programs make money, as they are distributed freeley and how many of us clicks on a advert on the programs homepage??? Its just their way of making money.
If you want to get mps's over ther net without using these progs you can use the newsgroups if ur isp supports the binares ones. goto alt.binaries.sounds.mp3 for a few! or else webpages!

Zonealarm is freeware, just download it from the official site. I trust you can find that yourself :) It's very handy at spotting spware because obviously everything needs permission from youself before it can access the internet. So as long are you're careful there's no probs.
You should also download a copy of ad-aware and periodically scan your HD for spyware. It's s very good program, the scan doesn't take long and it removes anything dodgy safely and without any hassle. It's very surprising how quickly spyware builds up though. I do a scan every week or so and it usually finds a coupole of things. |

No, have been using it for ages, the only thing that could slow it down is when a you install a new program that requires internet acess and it asks you permission if you want to allow it to use the internet and all you say is yes or no!
The program its self doesnt use alot of cpu power, and you can stop auto update programs etc running when your browsing so it can free up your internet conection for the things you want!!
