Buying Speakers in Australia
View this Thread in Original format
DJ 00 Tommy
Here is a nice example of what my anger is about.

Im looking at buying a B52 Matrix 1000 system V2.

Australian Store - JD's Sound and Lighting = 1,788.71 USD
That price is also thier on sale price.

American Store - Plant DJ = 799.99 USD

I can see that they have to be imported to aus and such but i cannot find something that decent for a price like that in Australia.
Some help would be apreciated in finding a system that will cost me around $1000 AUD and will be suitible for house parties and my bedroom.

Its just about all audio/visual stuff we gotta pay way more for and it sucks. Im looking at possibly importing from the US but i know nothing about duty fees and shipping.
wee_rooney
arent you better importin fae Japan? you shold get some pretty sweet stuff from there! and wouldnt it be cheaper?
DJ 00 Tommy
What japan stores are there.
The best speakers are made in the USA though.
wee_rooney
most of technics stuff is made in japan.
i dont have a clue what shops there are but surely if you done some research you could get some decent imported fae there for much cheaper than what it would cost to get it from america?

Iv had a quick look but havnt come across anything.
I gotta get to bed coz i gotta work in about 5 hours, maybe some TAs will have some info on the subject.
Thanks for helping sofar rooney.

Forget about getting it from Japan. It's more of an urban legend then anything else to say that Japan is really cheaper.

Perhaps they will have some more advanced products but the price these days is the same and sometimes more then elsewhere.

I cant even get them shipped myself coz they are too big/too heavy for UPS. Damn looks like i need to save more. Byebye next batch of records :sadgreen: :sadgreen: :sadgreen:

Sennheiser HD280s cost $300 here.

if u have relatives in US, get them to buy it, and ship for you. THat's what i'm doing for my headphones.

Make sure you check the Customs website guys. I think the threshold for Customs duties is $300 or something, but check that and make sure you add it on to your budget. If you undervalue the goods and something goes wrong, you're stuffed.

And Abhay, why pay 300 bucks for the 280 silvers, when you can get the black ones for 250? And most headphones are around 250. You just won't look as bling.
richg101
