i can understand your concern but i've lived here most of my life and it really isn't anything new, just a lot more media attention on it on this occasion for some stupid reason.

seriously the whole sydney beach thing has been blown waaay out of proportion.

i actually think ur promoting scared him off ;)

sure the media has blown it out of proportion, but being arab and coming to oz for the sole purpose of having a good time is out of the question right now!! you say it isn't anything new?? if thats the case then the media should have blown it out of proportion a long time ago.

Just don't go to Sydney then. You can still have a good time. Australia's a ing big place, Sydney's not the only place here.

let's just say 9/11 changed the way ethnics, arabs perhaps more than others, are perceived by the general public in many places.

i don't agree with it but in your mind when do you think it will ever be truly safe to travel again?

let's also keep it in perspective here, the actions of a select few in a specific suburb (not the entire state or country) is not representative of the entire nation.

dude 9/11 is so long time ago, move on.

i've traveld everywhere since and had no problems at all.
the only places that i would not go to apparently are the US, england, and now your country.

that's pretty stupid lol, i bet you're one of those travellers that never leave their 4 star hotel and tour bus in fear of the vicious natives :p

geographically sydney is one of the largest cities in the world, and its poppulation of people with middle eastern background is as large as Toronto's; this is hte first time something of this nature has happened and its in a dodgy suburb an hours drive outside of sydney

dijital, a Persian Toronto Tranceaddict living down here at the moment and many other sydney TAs with middle eastern heritage would tell you you're being melodramatic :p

Give me a home amongst the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
A clothes line out the back, verandah out the front,
and a old rocking chair.
