the name of the street, Van Buren, in Speilberg's remake of War Of The Worlds was a tribute to a name of one of the characters in the original 1953 version of the War of the Worlds film, Sylvia Van Buren.
She was the daughter of the Priest that gets killed by a fighting machine then plays the typical female role of a 1950's film by screaming a lot, fainting a lot and having to be slapped round the face to bring her to her senses by the hero of the film.

That is right, And also the original actors from the 1953 version made cameos at the end of the movie. |
