| Definetly a connection with 60's/70's music. Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix definetly had a psychedelic influence among others. I would look mainly at the 60's and 70's, stuff like Timothy Leary and Woodstock and all that. |

| as far as culture goes, shamanism was a huge cultural influence involving psychoactive drugs, especially in late 15th century South American culture. You could also look at modern peyote usage and other religions which still use it for various purposes. |
