*HELP* Coming down from Victoria, BC, Canada to SoCal for NYE.. what to do?

Hey howz it going everyone?
I need your guys' help. :(
A couple of my friends and I are planning a 25 hour road trip from Victoria, BC, Canada to SoCal for 5 days during new years. We are thinking of going to the LA Sports Arena to see PVD. We missed his show in Vancouver during the summer. We've never seen him, but have seen Tiesto, Coxy, Oaky, Diggers, Sasha, etc. We are planning on staying in a hotel in Huntington Beach for the first few days. My question is.. how far is the Arena from Huntington Beach area? Should we get another hotel closer?
Also I read about the Giant Village event with Digweed and the Spundae event. I know it's maybe the wrong forum, but about any big name rap/hip hop events going on that night? What else is going on in town.. like free events downtown or fireworks? Any suggestions? I can't wait!! I've never been to LA, only San Fran. Thanks in advance for the help! :D

This is going on all night and until 4 in the afternoon sunday. The events you're heading to end at 3 or 4am. You should come check out a proper underground outdoor afterparty when you finish the city parties. It's only 30 miles from the Giant party. I don't know of any big hip hop events going on around here, because I'm not really in that loop, but I do know that there are tons of hip hop events going on around LA.
I know at Giant Villiage the black eyed peas are performing along with a bunch of other bands. And of course Diggers will be there.

(and giant villiage doesn't end at 3 or 4am, it goes until aobut 10-12 sunday morning)
I would suggest changing hotels because Huntington beach is about 45 min. away with no traffic from downtown LA and about an hour away from Hollywood with no traffic.

I would definetly go to Together As One @ The Sports Arena and then an afterparty because it ends at 4AM. That is what I am going to do. TAO is the biggest new years eve party in America.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think the best event going on in SoCal for NYE is Sander Kleinenberg @ Avalon. The reasons why is:
a) There won't be a bunch of kids on E like how there will be at the other rave events going on.
b) Avalon is the best venue in LA.
c) Giant Village is going to be too packed, and the line up isn't all that.
d) It won't be cheese trance. ;)
e) Sander ROCKS! How can you not want an 8 hour set by Sander??

spundae has one of the biggest lineups of the night, for one stage, if nto THE BIGGEST one.
pvd rox, but how many times can we see him before it isnt special anymore? markus, gabriel and dresden, M.i.k.e. and j00f?????? >TAO, and it is much cheaper overall. well whatever you do have a blast! |

I'm doing Giant Village as well as some friends, if you want to check out hip-hop they have the Black Eyed Peas along with DJ Z-Trip and Digweed blah blah i'm sure you know. Avalon would be a great party as well...cheaper than Giant Village with Sander Kleinenberg!
Just FYI, I live in Huntington Beach...you're looking at about an hour drive into LA without traffic. With traffic on NYE you're looking at a good 2 hours. Not hard to get to...but EVERYONE goes to LA :p
