Ok, i've been working on this mix a while and no matter what I cant be satisfied by the vocals. I have a section of the song so that you can hear them. I want to do something to make the vocals stand out and not sound like garbage. Can anyone provide any tips or methods? I dont mind doing some wild effects.

Thanks. Here's the link: http://s65.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=...VK0WHRXQ0OLC1HT

Seems like a poor performance both the production and the vocals (not even discussing the cheezy text), I wouldn't bother working on it but if you decide to do so, compression is the key and maybe some eq of the hi mids so it comes some more clear. You might wanna decrease the melody patch a few notches also.

Ha ha ha ha, ok thanks... well I've worked on this a while. I will finish it. It's my first remix and first time working with vocals. I'll try what you said.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Your reverb is the problem. You have to set the decay and what not right because otherwise you have your melody too far in the front and your vocals kinda playing behind them. When you use reverb, it's kind of like a live performance. You have your drummer in the back, your lead vocalist in front, bassist next to the guitar player maybe even standing a little back, and your keyboard person playing on the other side of the bassist. Fix that and you should be good. Oh and turn down the melody patch. It's definitely too loud.

The vocal sample is out of tune. It might be worth your while to look into Antares Auto tune or to re-record the vocal.

Also, you need more delay, and yes, the reverb is a bit off.

As well, the mix seems to be a bit too "simple". Maybe add more percs or something, it just seems like it needs to be thickened out.

Lastly, the lyrics are a bit generic I think, but that might be the style you're going for.

yeah the vocals are a little out of tune. The vocal sounds a little too plain also. Percs could also add some energy to it.

Ah, thank you very much guys. I know the vocals are out of tune, but this guy isnt gonna do them again. I wont be working with any more of his stuff  The rest of the track is quite a bit more interesting than this section, I just took out a lot so it wouldnt cover up the vocals. I'm going to try that stuff with the delay and reverb. Also the Autotune thing if I can because I agree about the tuning. You should hear the vocals that I didnt use! Thanks again.

Son of a bitch! I just realized that I mixed up the files!! I wanted to send something called vocalsection and accidentally sent vocalsample. No wonder you thought the production sucked. Ok, now heres my real clip: http://s60.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=...5Y3CISRXPP5DJ9H
