Thanks, you don't have be an expert at all. All comment is welcome.
Personally I like Spinning Fragment Of Solar Drifwood more.
The reason is simple, after hearing this track it stayed in my head.
I also like the sample which he used, by the way.
snooky
nice tune one of the best i've herd in the forum today. realy like the synths nd pads. good work.snooky;)
Dirty Ice
I like number 2 more than number 1. The melody gets a little to cheesy for me in both. The production is great. But I would never play this.

Both tracks are completely different. Although I like number 1 more I expected that most trance fans like number 2 more, it more progressive.
What I like at Sonic Relief is when the strings are added at 1:49 minutes. Probably this would sound great in a club or huge hall.
It has great surround sound effect. (turn up the volume) :)

The producer, Alan, likes making trance, has good equipment, but is not influenced by what the crowd wants to hear. He just makes music he likes. He has no ambition to become a DJ or whatever.
Of course he is pleased when people do like his tracks.
I know for Sonic Relief he was proud of the bassline he used. It was exacly like he wanted it to be. Also the use of many different instruments is often difficult because they influence eachother. In this track they all are very clear and recognizable.
The track is not remaster with special equipment, but came straight out of the synthesizers and sounds very well even without remastering.
A friend helped him to remaster S.F.O.S.D. which had a pretty good result.

Thanks for your comment.

Spinning Fragment Of Solar Driftwood:

Hate that kick.. Sorry! dont like the percs either.. sorry! :(
hm.. I feel like I`m on acid/drug here, not good!

Overall. the song ts just ok!

SonicRelief1a: the bass is cool. Very "acid" music! hmmm.. melody, good! dont like the lead- on the melody, but the melody works very well!

Overall, it makes e smile!

The both songs need some serious mastering!

bye

i agree with rayan, i really don't care much for the beat in spfosd :) though the melody is awesome! it's got this really neat uplifting feel

sonic relief was the best. IT'S BRILLIANT! take it from me, who doesn't even listen to trance anymore :p
great work!

No sorry needed, your honest opinion is appreciated. As you can see there are many different opinions. That is why it is nice to get some responds.

I have sent your all comments to Alan. See what he will do with it.
I think it will inspire him to make another track when he has enough time. But I believe he is making progress.

By the way, I just found out he updated his site a little bit.
http://music.dimensional.nl/

In 2001 one of 2 remixes of "Melody of Consolation (Fifth Entity)" ,of which he just added 3 original versions to his site, reached the clubcharts and was released at 3 trance compilations.
One of those compilation in Sweden and Norway. I didn't know about that 3rd one until now.
A very nice list of artist to be among, I would say.

Two well put together tracks.

The first track is the stronger of the two in my opinion as it sounds more complete as a trance track.

Track two is way too cheesy for my liking although in terms of your melodies it's very well put together. It's too 'pop' trance for me.

The biggest issue that I can hear is your percussion and bass work. Whilst your melodies are well put togther, the core components of your tracks have no heart and it makes them come across as very flat as there is no driving component in either of them.
The kick needs to have a bit more lower end presence and the bass line tends just to fill that off beat spot that is generally used by poppy euro trance. The bass also seems to have all the low end frequencies filtered out of it and as a result makes the dancability of these tracks very minimal indeed.

Keep working on them though as they are definately worth finishing.

As I stated, the first track is by far the stronger of the two and the closest thing to something I would play out.

Cheers
