Bush is a humanitarian. He saw a threat is Saddam. He needed to be removed from power to cease his ways of violating laws and killing innocent people.
i agree, his atrocities are more than worth of ousting. oppression, shouldnt be tolerated by world community governing system.

UN involvement in Iraq, especially with france, from what i understand, was under the table doing illegal sales and trade with iraq, even though the UN, which is already under lots of French intuition and influence, instituted the very sanctions on Iraq which made it illegal to made trade with them, of any kind.

money + power = corruption :whip: :whip:

Firstly Hitler was a bastard and if left by us guys then he would undoubtedly have attacked the British isles FACT! and added to that he killed about 3 million Jews for no other reason than the colour of their eyes and hair and their faith!

And secondly Bush is as stupid as he is ugly!

theres no way that Sadam Hussein posed a threat to anyone but himself,
If you yanks wanted rid of him then you should have done it in the debacle that was the first Gulf war.

Its gone off the News now but the yanks have lost in the region of 3000 men and there are countless numbers of Iraqi's killed everyday by the military prescence and by the insurgents, If we had never have invaded Iraq it would still be stable as Saddam's regime, while brutal at times, was the only thing that could control such an unstable part of the world.

And now you guys get Oil!, but the pipes get sabotaged and so you are wasting it a resource that we only have about 80 years till it all runs out, just so you can run your 7 litre engines! it's burning and turning the sky black.

OK?

Who gave Saddam all the weapons to kill the Marsh Arabs?
the US!
Who was an ally to Iraq in the Iran Iraq war?
the US!
Who put Saddam in charge?
The US!

I like Guns n' roses though ; )

b. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost...an average of 112,500 per year.

Germany did attack U.S. interests prior to their declartion of war on the U.S. (note, THEY DECLARED WAR ON US).

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost...an average of 18,334 per year.

The Korean War was not a US led war, though the US did do a majority of the fighting. It was an operation under the control of the United Nations, and it was the result of a vote by a majority of the member nations to stop the invading North. Infact, using this as a case for Iraq is horribly ironic, since the Korean war is how the war in Iraq now should have been brought about!

d. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

The issue of Vietnam is very complex.

Kennedy did not start the war there, the war there had been hot since the late 1940's with the defeat of Frances colonial forces by the very indpendence driven North (who also happend to be Marxist).

Kennedy did escalate a few issues, though many were not directly his fault.

Botched CIA planing lead to the installation of a hated government (led by a Roman Catholic in a country that is something along the lines of 95% Buddhist) which caused social unrest and a general contempt for the South Vietnamese government, even by its own citizens.

The US, under Kennedy's orders had put in a quite a few military advisors to help South Vietnams military fight the North Vietnamese insurgency. Under Kennedy though, the US played no more than an advisory role.

You're next quote explains the real cause.

Yep, Johnson ed up. Plain and simple, he commited us to a horrible war. Then again, he was a Texocrat too... so I don't know how much you can blame on the DNP. ;)

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

Even so, it was apparent that there was horrible attrocities going on there. We did what was needed to be done, we let NATO take over (though NATO should NOT BE A PEACEKEEPING FORCE, but thats a different issue alltogether!) and we extracted ourselves. I don't think anyone will say stoping genocide is not a just reason for war.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

In the years since 9-11 we have discovered that we are horribly ill prepared for another attack, the man who funded and inspired the attacks is still free and alive, we crippled al-Qaida, but we have inspired more copycat groups with similar ideals than any country can keep track of, Libya did come clean, but with out much US intervention at all, Iran has basically given the finger to the US, Europe and the UN (IAEA) inspectors put there and continued on their Mary way, North Korea has kicked out inspectors and probably either has one or two nuclear devices, or at least the materials and technical knowhow to put one together at will, and sure we captured Saddam, but in its wake we have destabilized and entire country, throwing it into almost complete anarchy, pissed off most of the Muslim world, enraged the world community and lost 2000+ of our own boys in war that is pretty much unjust and illegal under international law.

Damn good job!

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

Okay, Iraq was taken in less time, sure, three years later we sure as hell havn't cleaned up the mess we made doing it.

The morale of the US citizens is low, who does the military fight for, themselves or the people back home?

But Wait! There's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day...to a veteran's hospital and look those men ...with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

I do respect what Glen is saying though (if he infact did say that, I am to lazy to check records atm).

The Military is a job, fighting is work. DUH. I respect what they have done for us in the past.

For those who don't remember... During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

God forbid the red commies during WW2? I mean , we might havn't won if the commies had gotten in on us!

Oh wait... Berlin what?

But honestly, to say...

That is complete and total BS. The US has NEVER, EVER in the last 150 some years faced a direct outside threat to its sovereignty at home. NEVER.

The last one was the Mexican-American war, and if you look at a good chunk of the South-West United States, I'm gunna guess they won't be reading it in English much longer.

Before that was The War of 1812. God forbid we speak with an English accent... :wtf:
