Well it’s that time again it would seem. With a fantastic twelve months behind us, it’s come that time to celebrate another birthday, this time we’re 4!
Casting our minds back to that rainy last Thursday in December 2001, when we took over the side room at Salt for our first little party, it has indeed been a fun filled ride. As we moved from there to Two Floors Up for three years, then Platform One, and now at our new home in Altitude, we’ve had the privilege of hosting so many very talented DJ’s and producers from Australia and around the world – 68 in fact, and it’s a list we’re quite proud of, so we thought we’d share it with you also...
Aaron Roach, Andi Red, Andrew Dannaoui, Anthony Pappa, Andrew Padula, Ben Seybold, Big Kev, Caleb Strong, Callum (NZ), Cameron Adams, Chris Fortier (USA), Chris Meehan, Dan Mangan, Dannyboy (NZ), Dean Millson, Dean Ryan, Dee Dee, Degenerator, Derrick Dennis, D-JCB, DJ Promo (UK), Emilio Damani, Feigan, Ferris, Gavin Martin, Guy Keating, Gwill Morris (UK), Habersham (USA), Heath Myers, Ivan Gough, Jacob Doble, James Young, Jeff Tyler, Jono Fernandez, Jules Plees, Justin Plant, Keltec, Lister Cooray, Lucas Chan, Luke Chable, Mark Ganz, Mark James, Matt Jarvis, Matthew Dekay (NL) Melvyn Pereria, Mike Callander, Miss Chris, Myke Ireland, Neo, Numinous (USA), Paul Agius, Paul Beynon, Paulie C, Phil K, Pyre (NZ), Rollin Connection, Ross Anthony, Sas, Sasha Petrovic, Scrambler (Live), Sean Quinn, Slack, Steve May, Steve Porter (USA), Steve Strangis, Stuart McKeown (IRE), Tahl, and Vance Musgrove.
But this aint no eulogy, because we’re not going anywhere-except full steam into 2006-and we’ve assembled another very special lineup to help us celebrate our 4th birthday at Altitude on Sunday December 25th (yes that's Christmas Night!), and we’re extending another warm PF invitation to you to hep us celebrate all as well – after all it’s your Private Function...
As always, in an effort to make our Annual Birthday and Xmas party extra special, we’ve once again managed to score a few exclusives for your aural and dance-floor pleasure, with Canberra's Jaytech and local duo Headfuks making their Melburn debut with an exclusive DVJ set, alongside our residents Gavin Martin, Aaron Roach, Dean Millson, Big Kev & Steve May.
In the small city of Canberra, Australia, Jimbo Cayzer has been producing electronic music under the moniker Jaytech since the age of 14. Now 19 years of age, Jimbo’s music has reached global recognition for its unique and innovative sound, and 2004 saw his career as a professional dance producer kick off with a continuing string of successes. Whether it be on his own or in tandem with studio partner-in-crime Mark Dynamix, his works contain a strong melodic influence while still maintaining the solid, club-driven timbre that is essential to underground dance music today.
Jimbo’s upcoming records have received support from the likes of Paul van Dyk, Anthony Pappa, Dave Seaman (including his recent 2004 essential mix on Radio 1), Steve Gerrard, The Flash Brothers, Lemon8 and Shiloh to name a few, and with rapidly increasing exposure from major labels such as Ministry of Sound and Sony Australia, along with a string of releases due out on the magnificent Hope Recordings label, Jaytech is definitely one to watch in 2006.
Hedfuks are Darius Bassiray & Rob Ride. Darius has played at PF before as part of Rollin Connection. When he’s not throwing down some of the deepest beats in Melbourne, he’s writing them! With the impending release of ‘Lorenzo’ on Proton Records (along with a Remix from Habersham) Darius’ music is definitely making an impression on dancefloors around the world. Rob Ride is one of the foremost VJ’s in Australia, most notably known for his work twisting people’s minds with his visual treats at Sunny. As a trained 3d Animator with two short films under his belt, Rob Ride approaches VJing from a new perspective. Using only his own 3D work, Rob pushes a completely digital aesthetic. With his custom built live visual machine, no two sets are ever the same. Together they’ve put together set combining sound and light for you all, a first Private Function (both for them and for us). Be warned however, it can get quite twisted inside their heads, so who knows what you might see, let alone hear.
We’ve also got another treat for you, with a copy of Private Function Sessions #4 for the first 200 through the door. With #1 mixed by Dean back in 2001, #2 by Aaron Roach in 2002, #3 by Gavin Martin last year, this year’s we’ve got one of our new residents from 2005, Mr Steve May, putting the sounds of PF 2005 down for posterity.
As usual entry will be $15 or $10 on the guestlist which you can register for at the usual place by heading to http://privatefunction.tranzfusion.net and as usual, if you've got a big list you can email it through to us at [email protected] and we'll get it sorted for you!
We’re looking forward to seeing out another massive year in style, so we’ll see you on the dancefloor one last time for 2005...

Cheers guys :)
It's always the party of ours i look forward to the most each year. Christmas night is especially a great night to party as everyone's well and truly in the 'festive spirit' by 10pm.
Jaytech's music is spot on also. He was telling me recently how much support he's been getting from Nick Warren, and about his new tunes due out on Hope next year which i am dying to hear.
As for the Hedfuks, well anything could happen. I have been hearing bits and pieces about some of the creations he's getting ready especially for PF, and um, well yeah... It's going to be quite the Hedfuk ;)
