u need a Dual layer DVD (expensive) and a dual layer burner thats for sure

as for Nero 7 Ultra, i have a 8 gig dual layer dvd image and nero reads it fine, and says it can burn it all in one track and session.

So i guess Nero 7 does the trick

btw where do u get dual layer dvds and how much r they?

I got a ...

Pioneer DVR-110D Black DVD Writer DVD +/-R/RW 16x16x8x6 6x DVD+/- Dual layer IDE OEM

It was like 55 bucks at PC VILLAGE

yea that will work
but u also need a dual layer DVD disk

those are hard to find, and at the store by my house its like 5 bucks for one DVD

so if its a movie just use a program like
DVD Shrink and cut down the size to a normal 4.5 dvd, thats what im going to do with the 8 gig movie i have

I heard about that ... doesn't it kill the res on the movie though?

oh , you were asking about the disk not the dvd burner, my bad ... no idea how much they cost.

looks like Nero 6 has some dual-layer capability.
http://www.nero.com/de/PR_2005_02_22.html

1. check for firmware updates for your burner.
2. google the media you have to find out if others had problems.
3. check for updates to Nero 6 or maybe just upgrade to Nero 7.. (see below)

Current Nero 6 User?
Then register NOW and receive a special Upgrade offer to Nero 7 Ultra Edition.

The quality will be great. You'll never be able to tell the difference.

We sell DVD+R DLs at work for like $30 for 5. They arent worth it yet. Just compress it onto a regular disk.

^^ Yeah, its been my experience that you can only really tell the difference on a higher-end TV or HDTV.

Most of the CD/DVD Software has supported DL for the last year or so!
As for movies MPEG2 at full quality is about 2-3gig per hour of video depending on the format and audio.
So therefore a 60-90min movie will fit on the standard non-DL DVD media.
It's all the other crap they put on a DVD9 including previews , multiple audio tracks and subtitles that use the rest.

If you use a tool like DVDShrink you can make the movie fit on a standard DVD4.5 with little or no loss of quality.

Nah, just use DVD shrink, you can't tell the difference in quality.

but the quality of the media sucks most of the time

dont cheap out on good blank dvd media. if its just for quick storage then yes, but for movies and , the data will degrade much quicker if its bad, making the dvd unusable
