Sarah McLachlan news......

This is great news not only to the entire Trance Community...but to the Canadian Trance community in particular. According to Ivibes... Sarah McLachlan was and has been very please with all the Trance/house/Techno remixes done of her songs...that she's actually considering making this(her next) album.... more "Dance" oriented. She was particularly please with the Tiesto and BT mixes.
How is this important u ask?? Well, consider this... she's an international..world renowned..respected songwriter and performer. Who's music is actually considered adult comtemporary and soft rock. By her making her album more Trancey, Housey, or Techy... it means that the Electronic scene has already grown to great proportions. This would be the first time a Canadian "ICON"...(because in Canada..she is an ICON) who's known for her great down-tempo songs...would cross-over to another style of music. We're not talking about 1 or 2 songs on her album....we're talking most likefully more than 1/2 her album would consist of electronic stylezzzz!

Way to go Sarah!!! .....and lucky Canada. :D :D

from what i heard she initially did not like the tiesto remix but after all the fame she's gained in Europe she all of a sudden likes it. hmmm...sounds like a sell out to me.

dude why is this possitive??

this means more thoughtless gay commercial charts dance..

yippie kayee..

The only person who did a thing sorta like this.. is ayumii.. ayumi rules.. but those were trance remixes of her allready existing traxx right? and it wasnt intended and deff didnt sound like cheesy darude/nsync/whatever trance..

These were just my 2 eurocents

I have the Sarah Remixed CD and it isnt all that great. With her original downtempo songs, the melodies could just pick you up and take you high (like my genre ot trance -- uplifting -- ) but the only songs that accomplish this is the original silence by tiesto. BT has an alright mix on there but I dont feel it is very worthy of dancefloors much less home listening. It just doesnt carry the trancy feel. If she does cross over, I think it will be more for the worse. Soon we will be getting fair-weather trance fans that will just ruin trance as a culture. I think it would be best if she just maintained the low key approach to trance that she has right now.

cheers.....

I think she should stick to what she does best :) I have her first 2 albums and they are very good. Leave the remixing for artists to do after the album has come out.

umm didnt Bryan Adams (canadian) team up with chicane for a major hit (dont give it up) last i heard bryan was saying the same thing, that he wanted his next CD to be more "dancey"...

i think that's a pretty positive thing. i love sarah's vocals, don't you think that's what made silence so beautiful (besides tiesto's or airscape's remixing). i would say her new dance-oriented songs will be easier to remix, so expect new hits. i, for one, will be waiting for the cd

hmm... I agree... I say she should stick to yelping on those downbeat tracks of hers... leave trance to the rest of us :D

Shes a great and versatile musician as it is (plays drums, piano, guitar, etc) and I like her normal downtempo stuff.

And according to Tiesto in an interview, she didn't intially like his remix but was pleased when she saw the reaction.

I think she should stick to what she does best, not try to sell out to the dance world to make money because the last thing we want are sell outs.

I think a better idea would be for European artists to make there own tunes, and get her to sing on them! Obviously, she has a fantastic voice, adn she should use it! As opposed to some ty producer who' makes a tune and gets her to put her name to it, which would spoil her name!

I think that's a positive step actually.

Yes, she's a BIG ICON and threatens to move Trance more into the spotlight but is that a bad thing?
'Oh no...I'm afriad that Trance won't be underground and l33t anymore...the rebel feel is gone...' - Give your head a shake.
How many remixes of Silence can you listen to and make really?
Might as well have the vocals made for the music right?

I understand that the radio stations might play it a bit, so what?
Why should RAP have a catagory in the Grammys but not Trance/Techno??
The only thing that even comes close is under POP - Section10 - Best Dance Recording...ugh.
There needs to be an awakening to the public, they hear it in their TV commercials (aka Moby anyone?) on the radio, in the movies (BT has done several soundtracks now; GO, Driven, etc) and we wonder why they still don't understand what Techno/Trance is.

It'll be a good thing with the right people involved. I think she's the absolutely perfect voice to be doing it anyways. :D
