Hey DJ The Movie
View this Thread in Original format
Ouwe Dwaas
I bought this DVD, but I never heard of this movie:

The movie chronicles the chaotic love life and rise to fame of the fictional character dj hound dog who has much in common with elvis. he struggles to break into the club scene and with the support and the advice of world famous deejays he turns out to become a real star. finally the king is back.
cameos performed by world famous deejays like judge jules, eddie halliwell, bob sinclair, anne savage, marc aurel, kai tracid, spankox, lisa lashes, chris cox, robbie rivera, agostino carollo, kevens, ferry corsten, junior jack, marco v, carl cox and pete tong.

The Actors:

Charlotte Lewis (as Tai)
discovered by roman polanski at the age of 16, charlotte starred alongside walter matthau in "pirates" and then opposite eddie murphy in "the golden child". she earned her stripes as an actress with her performance in "storyville" opposite james spader and a cult following with her erotic turn as alyssa milano's lesbian girlfriend in "embrace of the vampire". she also demonstrated a gift for comedy appearing as a guest on america's hit tv show "seinfeld".

Ivelin Giro (as Roxy)
ivelin made her screen debut as will smith's sexy cuban lover in "bad boys II". she was famed photographer alberto korda's muse: he is known (among other things) for his iconic photo of che guevara.

John London (as DJ Hound Dog)
john london worked as an actor in bollywood for many years, appearing in over one hundred movies, usually as the heavy. quite often he would find himself triple booked and have to juggle working on two or three different movies in one day. he worked under numerous different names to prevent the studios from finding out about his scheduling conflicts. famous one day and forgotten the next, london was a star many times over in bombay and enjoyed the crazy lifestyle. not only is “hey dj” his first american film, but it’s also the first one where he does not actually kill anyone.

Terrance Camilleri (as Charlie)
terry's career spans four decades of cult classics. in the 1970's he played the lead in peter weir's breakout movie "the cars that ate paris". in the 1980's he played the unforgettable napoleon bonaparte in “bill and ted's excellent adventure”. in the 1990's he twiddled his toes in the bathtub in "the truman show" and in the first decade of the new millennium he nailed it with gigli... oops... no, i mean "hey dj".

Tina Leiu (as Cat)
recording artist, tina is the voice of the spankox's anthem "to the club". tina has also starred in a number of independent action movies showing off her fierce samoan warrior princess charm. she also recently hosted 13 episodes of hbo's late night show "hotel erotica".

got this movie now. its got a decent soundtrack. nothing mindblowing. the story of the movie almost isnt even there. it jumps around from VERY short dj interviews (one or two liners) to a fictious dj named dj houndog screwing groupies with REALLY fake . the only cool thing about this movie is that most of it was filmed in miami. and like i said the soundtrack isnt horrible. but overall, i DO NOT recommend this flick. instead go watch groove, go, human traffic, or something of that sort. they are MUCH better.

Although I didnt see the majority of the movie, I just know that every time I turned my head to look at it the dude was screwing a random chick :disbelief :disbelief :stongue:

I liked it better than "It's all gone Pete Tong". The BI action made it interesting as well. I think you have to be in the right mood to watch this flick.

Dj Daeron
The GF has The Groove and it was good. The DJ sets were great. The story line was a little cheesey with all the candy ravers but over-all I liked it. I wanna get the sound track for it, mainly for Heaven Scent, but can't find it. Any suggestions?

the thing you gotta remember about groove, it was made in 2000 or whatever, so all those candy ravers is actually how it was. its cheesey now, but thats cuz times change.

btw, anyone seen a midsummer nights rave? i'm curious if that one is any good.
